A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Looks like my mosaic friend Kristin Conneely is playing around with some of my soda-fired beads… working towards some new collaboration pieces for ART IN THE GARDEN!!! I can’t wait to see what she finally comes up with when we have the “Big Reveal” at the art fair on the last week of August in Glenview.

Fun little pottery twirls “sprouting” in my friends’ garden down in Peoria! A fun little accent bordering the staircase… as every garden could use a bit more pottery, right?! Looking good Rosene & Gerry!

Who knew that one little piece of pottery could draw out such creative wackiness?! Whether it’s a horn-holder on top of a watermelon?… or a kitten spittle-catcher?… or a zucchini bread holder???

Looks like he might be going a little “covid-quarantine-crazy”… but I LOVE It… and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do with larger pieces of pottery?!!! Bring it on Matthew!!!

Looks like a yummy stick-to-your-ribs kinda country breakfast over in Pittsburgh with my friends “celebrating” Monochromatic Monday in some handmade ceramic bowls!!!

Fresh from the kiln. Fresh from the garden.
Thanks to Adam & Kristin for the yummy tomatoes to fill my cute little green bowl with a split-rim and dented-details!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! August 29th & 30th, 2020.

Just four weeks away we’re hosting another ART IN THE GARDEN!!!
The garden is twice as large this year so there’s plenty of room for social-distancing & safe shopping! It’s one of only two outdoor art fairs that I’m able to do this year… so please keep it safe, wash your hands and you MUST wear a mask!!!

It’s one of the most fun art fairs as several of us like to do one-of-a-kind collaboration projects to “reveal” at the show. You can see many of us making things in our studios to get ready… and maybe get a glimpse of a collaboration or two if you look close. Check out the list of my talented friends in the Comments and follow them all on social media.

Click here to follow ART IN THE GARDEN on Facebook… as more details, picture s& information will start to appear over the next few weeks!

Looks like one of my stamped & soda-fired mugs is off in the wilderness having a wonderful time camping & exploring the Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoir in Colorado! Looks amazing out there… have a great trip Kristin & Camden!!! Thanks for taking “me” along with you on a vicarious vacation!!!

Celebrating another MUGSHOT MONDAY with this stamped & soda-fired mug… which now resides in Minneapolis with my good friend Sarah!!! She was enamored by the amount of soda flashing effects on this one… so the mug made its way up north to celebrate her birthday!

So our baby blocks finally came out of the kiln…
and I got together last night with Molly & Jacob to drop them off!

Remember, we made these ceramic blocks last session pre-Covid during our Lillstreet Throwdown class. Newly pregnant at the time, but now they’re one month away from their due date! They loved their baby blocks… so ADORABLE… and I loved the Lickety Split frozen custard we went out for afterwards too!

I mean, if you’re going to show off some of my handmade bowls… THIS is how you do it!!! Not only did they put ice cream in them, but also some homemade rhubarb crisp!!! I can practically taste it from here!!! Thanks for sharing Keith & Julie… next time you make this I might just need to make a quick road trip?!!!
