Somehow… again this year… the kids had the brilliant idea to have a chocolate chip cookie bake-off. So today after lunch I spread them out and made plates for each of the kids. We had eight different entries in the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bake-Off. So each plate had eight cookies with a corresponding number under each one. The instructions were that the “judges” had to taste each cookie and vote for their favorite. And they couldn’t vote for their own. No rules or parameters on “your favorite.” Just a quick vote. Each kid got to taste & vote, as well as Pam and I, and a few other neutral people I pulled into play our game. I had to teach last night so I didn’t have time to make cookies. Plus it would be awkward if I won my own contest. So instead I brought milk for everyone to cleanse their palates.
At the end of the contest, we had more than a few cookies left over. A couple huge plates of yummy fun that we shared with anyone who wanted some. We offered them to the parents as they picked up their kids. We offered them to other teachers. And we offered them to everyone in the ceramics department.
Notice that there are none of Cookie #8 in this pile.
It was the double chocolate cookie with marshmallows baked in. Yummy…
and the winner of the contest!!! Congratulations Madeline on your big win!!!
She’ll get the trophy plate when it comes out of the kiln on Friday.
I found the latest addition to the Nabisco Oreo family. THINS.
I think Nabisco is trying to position them as “adult” Oreo’s… or maybe “healthy” Oreo’s. I must admit they taste pretty good… exactly like their bigger counterparts. Same proportions. Same flavor. But since they’re so thin, I just want to eat MORE of them to amke up for the difference!!!
And then when I came down to the classroom, I found out that I wasn’t the only one with Oreo’s on the brain. Two of my students had each brought in two different kinds of Oreo’s. What?!!! Seven, yes count them… SEVEN BAGS of Oreo’s!!! This snack addiction may be getting a little out of control?!
So I’m finally back from Dover… and tonight was my “return” to the studio!
Okay, well not really MY studio but to the classroom as it was my night to teach.
My class of beginners & advanced beginners are already in their third week of class. I missed the first two – thank you Catherine Tweedie for subbing. It felt weird to swoop in during Week 3 with the students already hitting their stride. So I knew I had to do something to win them over… yep, you got it… OREO’S!!! And lots of them. I couldn’t decide how much “stuffing” we wanted, so I got them all : single, double, triple, mega!!!
And we’ve sort of come to a consensus…
I’m in!!!
Enough of the Oreo’s…
this little winner of a melty-gooey-scrumptious-concoction might just take the cake!!!
Decadent? Maybe. Too sweet? Never. Too rich? No such thing.
Looks like a little slice of Heaven… or maybe dinner?!!! Who’s with me?…
Then a layer of marshmallows…
I of course would probably use the JUMBO ones… more is MORE, right?!
And then into the oven… until the marshmallows are toasted and the chocolate all gooey!
And dip with a graham cracker… what’s not to like?!!!
Click here for the video recipe – looks easy enough!!!
Now I just need to find myself a frying pan with a handle that can go into the oven?!
