I’ve always said that I have the BEST pottery students ever! So glad that my Throwdown Challengers had a great time playing my silly games & crazy contests! I know I had a blast “playing” with this great group. Thank You all for making my job so much fun… and for the “sweetest” THANK YOU ever!!!

I’ve been looking forward to this all day… Celebrating NATIONAL PI(e) DAY!!! March 14th… also known as 3.14… also know as Pi. A yummy piece of cherry pie on a beautiful handmade porcelain plate made by my friend & teaching assistant Susan Slogoff. All hand-painted with black underglaze as the perfect contrast to the white porcelain!!!

Now THAT’s a beautiful berry bowl!!!
Sure, the bowl is pretty… but those berries are stunning! Thanks for sharing Beth!

You gotta love when a fellow studio artist borrows a tool… and then returns it with homemade sweet treats!!! I know I LOVED these faux Oreo-moon pies… and I’m pretty sure Taylor loved trying out my DiamondCore sgraffito diamond stylus tool.

Last night during class, my friend Pam dropped off a little sumthin’-sumthin’ for under the “yellow towel.” A fun new flavor for us to try! Unfortunately, I was in the middle of my class demo… with clay-covered hands… so I had to ask one of my students to run outside to grab the “contraband confections” from Pam’s car!!!

Celebrating NATIONAL OREO COOKIE DAY with two of the best! Original & mint flavored… sure, the crazy flavors are fun… but sometimes you just want a plain yummy cookie!!!

Today’s the last day for “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS.” And what would a gallery show be without some treats for our guests?… water, wine, grapes, chocolate, pretzels & more! And once again, the mint OREOs are ready to go!!! No “yellow towel” required! … HA!!!

And then when they were done making their doughnuts… and thought they were done… they then found out that they needed to make a box to “keep it fresh.” A little twist that my GREAT LILLSTREET THROWDOWN students hadn’t quite anticipated. So if they made a larger doughnut, they now needed a much larger box!!! A fun little handbuilding challenge to finish off the night.

So last night we had some “imported” treats under the yellow towel… all the way from China!!! Chicago’s Chinatown that is!

Still impressed with the packaging… including the “cool” interior sleeves of cookies. The matcha flavored OREOs however?… not so much! Thanks to Korina for bringing them in… as she prefaced it with “I’m pretty sure you’re not going to like these.” She knows me too well… me & my palate of a four year old!!!!?
