Excited that I pre-purchased my new Amaco Underglazes in some fun colors…
so I can paint the newest Ghoul to really bring them to life… err, well maybe after-life?!!!

ART IN THE GARDEN is just a few days away… and the collaboration pieces are coming together nicely… I see COLOR!!! My pal & co-collaborator Cory McCrory has been working so diligently in her studio adding her own special sense of whimsy to every piece! We can’t wait to show-off the finished flower pots this weekend in Glenview! Remember, there are a limited quantity of these colorful collaborations!

About a half hour after I had gotten home “dry” from my bike ride… staying dry in my car while driving to Lillstreet for another week of summer camp! Crazy storm blowing through with lots of HAIL!!! And truth be told, I don’t think I’ve ever been driving inside my car during a hail storm. It was crazy loud & a little scary with diminished visibility! YIKES!!!

A beautiful stained glass window. Catching sun & throwing highlights & textures everywhere. Just one of the many pieces of art in Cory’s house… my favorite host of the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR!!! Thanks for letting me stay out there in Sandwich… so fun to hang-out with you all weekend.

A new pop of color in my garden this morning… and luckily, orange is my favorite color!!!

Suspension bridge geometry. Little cloudy, but I still appreciate the color choice of a yellow bridge over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.

It’s a new session of pottery classes at Lillstreet. So also, a new tie-dye…
and the newest OREO flavor for my classes this week!!!

A week after St. Patrick’s Day, and it looks like Matthew is still celebrating with his new Shamrock Mug… with a festive sipper & the wearin’ of the green!!!

Morning geometry.
Taking a step in the right direction with the color of the day!

This week in the GREAT LILLSTREET THROWDOWN, my students presented their colorized mugs from last week’s handbuilding challenge. The goal was to add enough color & style tot hem that they can just be glazed in clear later… and still be colorful & striking!!! They all did a great job trying to accentuate the texture patterns, without totally covering them up! Sadly, we had one “implosion” as Ellen was trying to several layers of underglazes & underglaze decals for a quilt-like effect. But found out there might have been too much water & pressure used on her bone-dry porcelain mugs?! Luckily, she has plans to use those shards for making some small jewelry pieces later.
