Another grey & dreary day in Chicago… so it’s always a welcome surprise to find a splash of color like this sumac bush in my front yard! Loving the range of colors and the natural overlapped textures created by jagged leaves!

Another grey & dreary day in Chicago… so it’s always a welcome surprise to find a splash of color like this sumac bush in my front yard! Loving the range of colors and the natural overlapped textures created by jagged leaves!

Cloudy all morning, so I waited to ride my bike for the sun to come out later this afternoon. But with it came the WIND!!! So windy… so gusty… it might have been the “funnest” & funniest ride I’ve had for a long time. The wind was swirling everywhere… from the left side, right side, back side, front side! Blowing leaves off the trees sweeping across the path. Debris flying. Feeling like you might literally get blown over!!!

So much fun… but a bit sad watching the color on the trees literally blow away on what might be one of the last beautiful days of Fall… mwah, mwah, mwah….

Sure, I could have left this bowl with the simple ombre colors gradating from blue to orange… but MORE IS MORE, right?! So I decided to do a little carving through the colored slip with my DiamondCore Tools instead!

Huh?… who knew that I would “match” my bowl so well today?! A couple colored slips from last week’s class demo… and an ice-dyed shirt from quarantine… finally get to meet!

After pedaling all day & enjoying my free ice cream… I drove out for family night in the suburbs! I couldn’t help but stop & swerve to the curb when I saw this PERFECT MOMENT!!! The colors, the trees, the reflection… MOTHER NATURE IS AMAZING!!!

Monochromatic morning… my red bike by a beautiful big red tree! This tree… these colors!!! Mother Nature is AMAZING!

Looks like Kristy was making something yummy for a little Labor Day get-together… or maybe just a fun lunch?! Loving the color contrast with the cobalt blue bowl!

Looks like Cory has one last batch of colorful fun to wash with underglazes, glaze & fire quickly for this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN. I’ve been enamored with Cory McCrory, her work, her textures & her whimsy ever since we met at the Hinsdale Fine Arts Fair several years ago… and we’ve been fast friends ever since! So much fun to have talented friends!!!

What a difference a little underglaze can make?!!!
A whimsical “paint-job” by my “cohort in collaborations” Cory McCrory on her bowls for this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN. We’ve been working on this little project for awhile now… and now we’re both in our final kiln firings!!! Getting ready to put our collaboration pieces together in Glenview for every one to see!
