Looks like my students tonight have just a little bit of glazing to do!!! It’s my MUGSHOT MONDAY mini-class at Lillstreet. Tonight’s their last night, so we gotta get our glaze on!!!

Just loaded my MUGSHOT MONDAY class mugs into the kiln. A quick bisque firing before we tackle glazing next Monday night! We’re right on track… making more mugs, mugs, MUGS!!!

My students cranked them out last night!!! That’s a lot of work trimming & adding handles for just a three hour class! Making mugs, mugs & MORE MUGS with my three-week MUGSHOT MONDAY pottery class at Lillstreet Art Center!

Last night in my MUGSHOT MONDAY class, my students assembled their mugs!!! It’s just a quick three-week class all about making MUGS!!! My favorite!!!

Last week they threw cylinders, this week trimming & handles… next week glazing! Very quick & lots of mugs!!! By the end of class tonight, they were “complaining†less about making handles than when we started. So I’ll call that progress… and they were all excited when they saw how many mugs they had cranked out in just a three hour class!!!

Fresh from the kiln. A class demo bottle with a class demo glaze! One of my students had used this glaze combo on a few of his pieces, and Ted was more than willing to share the info. So I figured I would give it a try too!!!

The look is pretty sweet, but if I must say, the “texture” of the blended top section is a little “rougher & scratchier” than I would normally like.

Hey Lillstreeters (besides Ted)… Any guesses what this combo is?!

Registration opened today for the Winter 2021 session at Lillstreet Art Center. I will be teaching four different classes… for ALL levels of potters! Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and my favorite… The Great Lillstreet Throwdown!!! Click on the link below to sign-up… as spaces will fill quickly since they’re still limiting classes to eight students again for effective social-distancing… with plenty of safety measure, hand sanitizers & full masks required!

Tonight in my Wheelthrowing class I surprised one of my students with some new clay jewelry!! Katie has been in my class for awhile, and has been playing with a lot of marbled clay this session. A few weeks back, she used the scraper to get a thin layer of marbled clay off her bat after removing the pot. She was going to just throw it in the reclaim, but I stopped her and told her she should make “something” out of it. It was such a cool slice of marbled clay. She didn’t feel like using it to make anything… but I did!!!
And Katie LOVED them… and immediately wore them in class!!!

With the “success” of our marbled clay experiments, last night one of my students continued wheelthrowing with colored clays. Katie used white porcelain, as well as blue & black porcelains she made with mason stains. We’re all LOVING how these pieces have been turning out. A fun novelty to be exploring during these crazy days! They’re looking great Katie!!!

One special piece that came out of my soda kiln firing, was this vase that was a class demo from a couple weeks back. We’ve been playing with some colored clays & marbled wheelthrowing. This piece started with “white” B-clay, brown clay, and a “green” B-clay we made with mason stains. It was an experiment to see how it would turn out in the soda kiln with nothing but the soda atmosphere to “glaze” the exterior. Looks like a great success to me!!! I think we’re onto something…

After my sgraffito demo Thursday morning, I also did a quick stamping demo for them as well. One stamped impression at a time… one after another… all the way around!
