Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Remember, there’s a very good chance you are not seeing all of my Facebook posts in your News Feed. My understanding is the more Posts you “Like”, or the more Comments you leave, the more of my posts will make it into your Facebook News Feed. Plus, you can always go directly to my Facebook Page to see everything!!! Don’t miss any of the good stuff… like my annual online sale coming very soon!

As of today we have 1,812 Facebook Fans
I think we need an “Overture.” Any suggestions Mr. Tchaikovsky?…

Whoops… somehow I missed the fact that we just went over
1,800 Fan Likes on my little pottery Facebook Page. We’re at 1,805… yeah me!!!

And if you like what you see, be sure you continue to hit the “Like” button on individual posts and “Comment” when you have something to say. That way you’ll be seeing even more posts from Fire When Ready Pottery in your News Feed. Remember, Facebook Inc. is trying to get small businesses to pay money to “promote” their posts. And I’m not going to play their $$$ game… so we all need to “work around it” by clicking & commenting. Thanks.

So I got this “Comment” on my blog today…
Very sweet in a weird, kind of touching, kind of stalker-ish way.
I think it’s good… so “good” that I just had to share.

Hey, glad I found your website, I named my son Jackson because of a guy named Gary Jackson that I met in 1972. Hoped you were him. But of course you’re not. However I love your story. I also love art and bike riding. I’m working hard for corporates and you have inspired me to work harder for my loves. I’m from Louisville, Kentucky. Maybe I’ll be able to see your work there. Keep sending good vibes!

It appears as though the fine folks at FACEBOOK are still trying to make it hard for small businesses to promote themselves. Oh sure, we can get a lot of people to “LIKE” our business pages… but getting our posts to those Facebook Followers? Well, that’s another story.

I currently have over 1,750 Facebook Followers for my pottery page.
However, each of my recent posts appears to only have reached about 350 people.
Not really sure how they decided WHICH Fans get them and which one’s don’t?!

It’s all part of their Master Plan to get businesses to pay extra money to “promote” their Business Page postings. Not the “FREE” Facebook that everyone is accustomed to. And let me just say, I will not be using that “service” to give them more money!

So, if you would like to see more of the postings from the Business Pages you have chosen to follow (like mine), it seems as though you need to click LIKE on postings more frequently, or leave a COMMENT now and again. And remember that you can always type in the name of the Business Page to see what you’ve been missing.

You know how I love to hear from my blog followers…
especially when they have such great stories to share!

Another satisfied apron customer, fellow potter and friendly blog follower…
“I have scoured the Internet for aprons that are wide enough to really wrap around and long enough to cover knees when sitting at the wheel. Finally found a special chef’s apron but it still doesn’t quite meet my needs.”

Then she purchased one of my Mom’s aprons, and seemed to like it…
“Great apron. I particularly like the ingenious overlapping slot on the front. I’ve also figured out a way to “crawl” into it so I only button once. I’m afraid to wash it, don’t want it to shrink. It’s my Mother’s Day present. Very special.”
By the way Verna, you can totally wash it…
the fabric was pre-washed & pre-shrunk before sewing!

And then she continued with her kind words…
“Please know again how much your musings, photos, updates about all topics are appreciated, learning the Cup Game too!  I am a retired kindergarten teacher and university adjunct professor. Dealing with chemo every couple of weeks for lung cancer. Making pots joyfully on recovery weeks.  Selling in shows and galleries. Formerly owned a gallery/studio in Idaho and decided to return to teaching, a 20 year educational hiatus from pottery.  So after that time away from clay, I’m so grateful to be back in the mud. My fly fisher, ice fisherman, upland bird hunter husband is loving the new creations. Your adventures and skills are valued. Pretty tricky using the trim tool handle for the depression on the platter edges. Love it!  How do you find the time to record, write, pot???????”  -  Verna, Great Falls, Montana

Okay, so I’ve been snowed in for two days with sub-zero temperatures in Chicago.
And I’ve now been on Pinterest for those same two days.

Now I wouldn’t say that I’m addicted or anything, but it’s only been two days
and I’ve already pinned over 800 pictures!!! I’ve even added two more boards.
One of my “biking sunrises” and another of “nature’s art.”
Sure, they’re all my own pictures so far… soon I’ll need to start pinning someone else’s
pictures when I run out of my own!!! Don’t let the addition take over!!!

So do a search for me on Pinterest and see what I’ve been up to.
Look for “Fire When Ready Pottery” and “Gary Jackson”… or “garyjackson1353“.

Apparently, there’s a new kind of fun on Facebook?!!!
Every Monday, people are submitting photos of their favorite mugs online.
And then the “game” is that which ever mug gets the most “Likes” on Facebook
during the week is that week’s WINNER!!! No prize. Just gloating rights.
I’m kind of a let-comer to this Facebook project – but I’m diggin’ it.
If you want to check it out, click here for Mugshot Mondays on Facebook.

Quick thanks to Donna, one of my loyal customers, for posting one of MY mugs today
for Mugshot Monday! I think it’s the first of my mugs to make an appearance?!

And if any of you would like to submit a photo of one of my mugs… hint, hint…
I would be very thankful and more than happy to post it here on my blog as well.
I’d love for my “troops” to start flooding Mugshot Mondays with Fire When Ready Mugs!!!
Just click here for Mugshot Mondays, and then post your photo with my mug! Thanks.
