ARRRGGHHHH… I think these postcards might be jinxed?! First it was the stamps… now it’s the color? Or lack thereof. I ordered full-color backs for my postcards… I just didn’t plan on that color being GRAY!!! Luckily everything is still legible… just not as pretty as it’s supposed to be. And be sure that VistaPrint will be hearing from me!

So I finally found postage stamps… kinda. Seven post offices today and I only found 93 postcard stamps?! So the rest of my postcards are going out with TWO stamps on them that at add up to a couple cents more than the standard postcard rate. I had to get creative if I want these postcards to get out on time… or more likely, just in the knick of time for next weekend’s big Home Show! I hope people like penguins?… ‘cuz there’s going to be a LOT of them going out!!!

I’m kinda excited about this latest batch of lidded jars. I went a little larger this time… racing to get things made for next Saturday’s soda kiln. Even more importantly, in time for the Holiday Home Show which is coming up all too quickly. Always the weekend before Thanksgiving… just three weeks away?!

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Take a quick drive up to the Galena area for TWENTY DIRTY HANDS. It’s a fun weekend pottery tour featuring the studio & pottery of my friend Delores Fortuna… two of the twenty hands! She just opened a kiln of new work and is opening her studio for the weekend. My friends & fellow potters Roberta Polfus & Amy Higgason will also be guests of Delores sharing their beautiful pottery as well.

Huge congratulations to my friend & incredible painter Cheryl Holz
who won the top honor last weekend at ART IN THE BARN!!!

From Cheryl’s website
Cheryl Holz is a midwestern artist whose mixed media artwork celebrates nature’s strength, beauty and diversity. Like sediment accumulates in a riverbed, she builds up layers of textured surfaces, organic painting processes, and relevant text on wooden panels. Portions are excavated to reveal botanical or geological specimens and natural patterns.

I met Cheryl a few years back and have admired her work ever since. Her imagery, her layers, patterns and combinations. The multi-media mixtures of nature & text. The color palette that is so close to my own personal palette… see my condo, see her colors… one and the same!!! And she’s one of the nicest people to boot. I’ve always said that I’m so happy to have so many Talented Friends!!!

Congrats again to my friend Cheryl… she deserves all the ribbon, prizes and accolades.
BEST OF SHOW 2016.
