Blue skies & sweet breezes! All set-up under a nice tree at the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL in Booth #69… both today & tomorrow from 10:00am-5:00pm. C’mon by to say hello, enjoy the nice weather, see a bunch of beautiful artwork… and maybe buy a few pieces of pottery along the way!!! Burlington Park in beautiful downtown Hinsdale!

Getting ready for tomorrow’s BIG DEBUT of my new “wheelthown-handbuilt-combo” mugs! Cleaning them up, smoothing some bottoms & packing them up for a trip out to Hinsdale this weekend! Stop by the HINSDALE FINE ARTS FAIR in Booth #69 to see me & my new mugs… and a LOT more textured & handmade pottery!!!

The only downside to making a LOT of mugs… is having to clean, price & pack a LOT of mugs for this weekend’s art fair in Hinsdale! These mugs are a mix of soda-fired or glazed… a little something for everyone. Always guaranteed to make your morning coffee just a little bit tastier!

Next weekend is the big kick-off of my SUMMER ART FAIR SCHEDULE! I’m fully-vaccinated & headed out to Hinsdale for one of my favorite art fairs! It’s a beautiful park right in downtown Hinsdale… and it’s going to feel so good to be outside selling pottery again… in-person, and not just online!!! Hoping to see a bunch of smiling faces outside with me next weekend!

Here’s another quick peek… after I had taken off all of the door bricks! You can see the difference of before & after the soda firing! Some of the colors come from glazes & colored flashing slips, but a LOT of the magic comes from the soda-firing itself. Introducing soda ash & soda bicarbonate into the kiln creates this wonderful atmosphere inside the kiln that makes wonderful surfaces!

And look, you can still see the brick blocked peep on the right side above… and it now cleaned out below!

Perfect timing… as a LOT of these new pots will be making their way to the Hinsdale Fine Arts Fair this weekend!

With everyone getting vaccinated & numbers going down, it looks like my ART FAIR SEASON is coming together nicely! Much better than last year when pretty much everything was canceled due to the pandemic! I’m really looking forward to getting back out there with my pottery this summer! Happy to announce that I have been invited to be part of the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR this year – June 18th, 19th & 20th!
