A beautiful sunrise along the lakefront with colorful clouds flying low on the horizon. A gorgeous way to start day… before heading back out for Day Two of the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR. Just a little re-stocking & re-arranging and I’ll be all ready to go!

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday at an art fair… a fancy new ribbon, playing outside on a beautiful day, selling some handmade pottery & meeting some new pottery friends!!! More fun tomorrow at the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR… c’mon by!

This weekend is the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR… in a new location at Attea Middle School. It’s a nice art fair with lots of local artists, each very talented in their own media. Hope you have time to stop by to chat, see some art & to support local artists.

Attea Middle School
2500 Chestnut Avenue, Glenview from 11:00am-5:00pm.

There will also be another art fair going on at The Glen…
however it’s a large “conglomerate” art fair of artists brought in from all over the country. A “stable” of artists that travel in a group kinda like Corporate America doing an art fair. I’m sure their work is beautiful too… but if you need to make a choice, please SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS.

Early morning in the kiln room… with my four favorite letters! Still too hot to unload… but I hope it cools quick enough that I can unload after summer camp today?! Please, oh please… fingers crossed.

Otherwise I might be unloading warm pots on my way to set-up my art fair tent on Saturday morning?

Celebrating another MUGSHOT MONDAY while getting ready for my next art fair… prepping , pricing & packing some new pots for next weekend’s Glenview Summer Art Fair… Saturday, July 30th & Sunday, July 31st.

When dealing with drip runs & chunky bottoms with errant kiln wash… nothing works better than the DiamondCore Grinding Disc. Just wet the disc, wet your pot, and press the mug bottom to the disc while it spins fast on your wheel. Before you know it, the excess comes right off the bottom. And if your turn & shift your pot just right, you can get a pretty “perfect” footring on a pot that might have been “ruined” by a bad bottom!

We’re just one week away from the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR. Always a fun art fair with talented local artists. Be sure to mark your calendar… and note the new location at Attea School.

FYI – There will be TWO art fairs in Glenview next weekend. The GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR with many talented artists from the surrounding area.

The other art fair will be at “The Glen” with a conglomerate of artists that travel the country hawking their wares… kinda like Corporate Americameets the art fair! So if you need to make a choice… please choose to SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS. Thank You.

I love when your “friend-worlds” collide! Like earlier today when my good college friend Kelly & her mom Mimi met up with my pottery friend Cory McCrory during an art fair at the Vrooman Mansion in Bloomington! I know Kelly has been an online “fan” of Cory’s work for several years… so this “friends-collision” makes me very happy! Plus, it looks like a few purchases were made too… which also makes me happy!!! Fun pottery for everyone!

Whimsical illustrations with kind of a groovy retro vibe by Nancy Gardner…another one of the potters at the Sandwich location of the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR.
