Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter. As seen through the eyes of the “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS.” So much fun to work on a large collaboration project with your Talented Friends! Each interpreting the theme in their own way using their own mediums & talents. Always exciting when a good plan comes together!

Today was the opening of “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS” in Evanston. Thanks to everyone who stopped by today to chat & buy some art. We always love seeing art enthusiasts, collectors, hobbyists, students, friends & more! We’re looking forward to two more days of fun… hoping you can stop by! I’ll be there with my talented friends Sarah, Darlys & Robin! What could be better than hanging out with friends all day surrounded by great art & good snacks?! C’mon by…

Enough of the teasers… here’s a quick look of the big collaboration project we’ve all been working on! The “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS” have been busy “making”… four tiles each for the four seasons! So sixteen tiles total in one large installation… but first we need to get it up on the wall?! The show opens at 2:00pm today, so we gotta get going quick!

Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall.

And here are the same tiles after soda-firing… framed & ready to be hung on the gallery wall. A fun collaboration challenge for each of us… making thematic tiles using our usual medium & techniques. So some are metal, some are glass, and mine are clay! We’ll have sixteen tiles in the collaboration wall installation. We’re pretty excited to see how it’s coming together… and we hope you can come see it in person this weekend in Evanston!

Opening tomorrow at 2:00pm!!!
I can’t believe it’s almost here… as we’ve all been working on this show for quite awhile! We’re busy setting up today… shelves, pedestal, mugs, pots, wall hangings, lighting, and so much more! Including a collaborative piece we’ve all worked on together inspired by the four seasons… spring, summer, fall & winter! We hope you can stop by to see us this weekend in Evanston!

So my talented metalsmith friend Sarah Chapman is sharing a little “teaser” of her pieces for the collaboration project we’re all working on for this weekend’s “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS” gallery show. We’re each making four pieces… all of them squares… all of them with the same themes… hoping that they all some together when we install the show tomorrow! Remember, the show is this weekend on Friday, Saturday & Sunday in Evanston, Illinois.

Okay, I’ve said for years that I “only know enough metalsmithing to be dangerous.” Even with that in mind… I can’t comprehend how ANY of this is coming together?! Darlys Ewoldt makes these crazy-cool metal sculptures all fabricated by hand. Looks like this one will be making its way to “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS” this weekend… after this patina process is done giving it beautiful color & surface finishes. Can’t wait to see it this weekend in Evanston!!!

Okay, so the “sugar cubes” are gone… and I’m still intrigued by Robin’s progess on her collaboration pieces for “4×4”. Looks I might need to wait until next weekend along with everyone else to see how this all comes together. I have a few ideas… only because I’ve been working on my own pieces with the same theme. But my pieces don’t look anything like this?! …ha!!!

Looks like Robin Kittleson is still working on her fused glass pieces for “4×4 : FOUR MAKERS.” I know it’s part of the collaboration project we’re all working on… but I’m not quite sure what’s going on here?… looks like sugar cubes to me?!
