Looks like potter Cory McCrory & stained glass artist Retta Hentschel are working on something pretty, shiny & flowery for ART IN THE GARDEN!!! Lots of collaborations are currently in the works… different projects at different studios. Can’t wait to see everyone’s creative collaborations in just a couple weeks!!!

Here’s a quick glimpse of something that’s been going on in my studio lately… the beginning of something fun! Parts & pieces coming together as part of a new collaboration project with my buddy Cory McCrory for ART IN THE GARDEN!

So hard to believe that we’re now just two weeks from ART IN THE GARDEN!!! One of my favorite art fairs of the summer… a great grassroots effort by a bunch of talented friends! We have a LOT of collaborations currently under way with several of the artists mixing it up & creating cool one-of-a-kind pieces together! About a year ago during ART IN THE GARDEN 2022, I gave our mosaic artist Kristin Conneely a few “parts & pieces” with a challenge for her to work her “mosaic magic” as some collaboration projects for ART IN THE GARDEN 2023. She’s had plenty of time to work on them… so I can’t wait to see what she’s done & to share some pictures with you! I’m sure they’re going to be STUNNING… because she’s pretty amazing herself!!!

Hard to believe that we’re just three weeks away from ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview. One of my favorite art fairs of the summer… a fun grassroots event with a group of My Talented Friends! One of the best parts about this art fair is that several of us work on one-of-a-kind collaboration pieces just for this show! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Glenview Summer Art Fair this weekend. We had perfect weather both days… with some rain overnight which didn’t affect us at all… whew! So much fun seeing so many people enjoying the weekend & appreciating local artisans. A lot of pots found their new forever homes!

My art fair booth flowers survived the weekend as well… so now they get to hang out a few extra days in a nice stamped & soda-fired vase on my back porch! I love a good oval vase as they spread the flowers out a bit more side-to-side… instead of just slamming them into a circular vase opening.

Ah, the “glamorous “ part of art fairs… packing up the pots, taking apart the shelves, tearing down the tent, packing the car… and hoping you remember how it all fit in when your brought it all in the first place. Fingers crossed...

And oh, but wait there’s more… I get to unpack the car again tonight when I get home too. Whew!!!

You gotta love when your art fair friend brings your fresh flowers from her garden for your booth display! I mean, I’m sure she knew I would have plenty of vases to put them in! Thanks Rhonda… you’re the best… they’re beautiful!!!!

Day Two of the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR and the shelves are restocked for another great day. C’mon out to Booth 24 to say “Hi”… we’re on the corner of Lake & Waukegan until 5:00pm!!!

Just a couple minutes until the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR begins! We’ll be here today & tomorrow from 11:00am-5:00pm in Booth 24 at Lyon Elementary School at Lake & Waukegan. Lots of great artists & artwork… a beautiful shade tree to boot!!!
