Okay, so I mentioned other ART IN THE GARDEN artist collaborations…
here’s another little glimpse to whet your whistle…

It’s tomorrow!!!
Seven artists. Seven talented friends. All hanging out in a beautiful backyard.
No pressure. No crowds. Just a great chance to hang out, chat with some artists and see some beautiful work. Jewelry, pottery, knitwear, stained glass, sculpture, paintings, glass beads, and more!!!

Plus… a few Limited Edition Collaborations!!!
You’ve seen some “teasers” of the ones I’m doing with Cory McCrory.
But word on the street is that other artists are doing some other collaborations as well.
You’ve got to stop by to see them all.

The collaboration pieces I’m doing with Cory McCrory are coming together nicely. I’ve been laying out the tiles to create mini-ClayQuilts. So many colors, textures, flowers… and even some words along the way!!! Once I get them all laid out, I’ll give them all a final “edit”… switch a tile, rotate a tile, tweak ’em a bit before I call them done!

And then I still have to glue them all in place so they can dry in time for the “Big Reveal” this weekend at ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview.

Now I just need to start assembling my pieces with Cory McCrory’s wonderfully whimsical works to create our special collaboration pieces for this weekend’s ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview!!!

Luckily, Cory has been busy working on “our” collaboration too.
So far it looks like a lot of squares that are now popping in fun colors!!!

are working together on something special. Can’t wait to see the Big Reveal next weekend!

Even more from Cory McCrory… looks like things are coming together nicely on her part. Guess I better get my act together so that I have MY part of the collaboration ready to put together for “Art In The Garden.”

The newest addition to “Art In The Garden” is my friend Martin Chadwick. He started taking my Beginning Wheelthrowing pottery class with his wife Christi. It wasn’t until I went to their house for dinner one night that I got a real insight into his wonderful world. All I had seen from him was round pots on the wheel. All fine & good, but c’mon… not when there’s THIS kind of talent being hidden under there somewhere!!! Bring it out. Show it off. And now he is… welcome to “Art In The Garden” Martin. Cheers mate!!!

According to Martin…
“I am a self taught Artist. Born in England, I started work as an apprentice architectural model maker at 16, with now over thirty years experience. My profession has given me many exciting opportunities and experiences, including meeting many famous architects, working with crazy model makers, and the chance to travel. I spent five years living in Hong Kong, and I was there for the hand-over in 1997! Then I moved on to Chicago, where I still live.”

In addition to his fantastic paintings, Martin has continued working in clay. His wheelthrowing adventures have been derailed just a bit to experiment and pursue more sculptural endeavors. It’s been so much fun to watch Martin’s world grow, evolve and expand through clay. His surrealist worlds have leapt off the canvas and taken on lives of their own. This will be Martin’s very first “art fair”… so it will be interesting to see what he shows us in the Garden. I’m hoping that it’s a LOT of all things wonderful!!!

Another new artist joining us this year in Amy’s backyard will be Alison Fox. Here stained glass pieces are not quite normal. But instead an exciting mixture of classic techniques and unconventional pieces added in. Antique prisms, vintage bottle glass, trinkets, cabachons, and so many other things may find their way into one of Alison’s pieces. Clever. Colorful. Eccentric.

According to Alison…
“I have loved glass ever since I can remember. The way the light comes through it from a full moon to the slightest reflections, has always been intriguing to me. And color. Layers of color. I cannot live without it. When all these things come together, it truly has an effect on me that fuels my passion for this medium. My ideas are always evolving and, having started my art doing stained glass in the traditional form, I quickly became tired of that as I always look to my artwork in different ways. This is an advanced form of stained glass, where I use antique/vintage glass inclusions in each piece. All individually foiled and soldered with classic stained glass as the background. I also recycle old window sashes to use as my frames.”

One of the new artists joining us this year “in the garden” will be Kristin Gereau. I haven’t met her yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her and her wonderful knitted textiles. I love the color combinations, patterns and structural designs. And with this wave of unseasonably cool weather we’ve been having, I might just need a new scarf to stay warm in Amy’s backyard?!
