Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Many of us have been fans of Brett Kern and his amazing ceramic sculptures of blown-up dinosaurs… including his tell-tale gold-plated valves! So imagine my surprise & disgust when I saw his work being blatantly plagiarized at BLICK ART SUPPLY!!! A place where you would assume they support artists and their livelihoods. Show your support by NOT buying these at Blick, but instead follow him on Instagram @brettkernart.

Blue skies. Clear skies… and a couple geese! Could it get any more BEAUTIFUL?!!!

It was a very HOT day today… 101-degrees after nearly 101-miles through the rural farms in “the land past DeKalb”. Very hot & sweaty, with salt stains on my shorts, what felt like gallons of Gatorade and a few four-legged friends along the way. A very steamy & satisfying Century bike ride!!! Thank you to all of the Beanzie volunteers who kept us well-hydrated today!

It starts as a food dish, but then becomes a chaise lounge?!
Even my friend Chris’s bearded dragon deserves a fancy handmade
stamped dish to call his own!!!

Exciting to see that the Purple Martins have migrated back to Chicago at Montrose Harbor!
A sure sign of Spring as these special avian condos put up their “occupied” signs!!!

Here’s a quick peek of the Christmas gift I bought myself a couple weeks back.
I’ve been following Matt Wilson of Airtight Artwork on Instagram for awhile now.
Completely enamored by his ability to create precise bird sculptures out of everyday silverware!!!
Each bird has it’s own personality & attitude. And when his last “flock” was released on Etsy,
I just had to go for it… Merry Christmas to ME!!!

While most people would use it as a spoon rest…
looks like this bearded dragon prefers it as a BED?!!!

So good to know that my pottery is so multi-functional. Ha!!!
Thanks for sharing Chrissy-Chick!

Thanks to everyone who offered up some adorable names for my niece Taylor’s new puppy. And after my “lobbying” for the obvious choice… OREO… she decided to go with one of her original three names… RILEY.

Still cute nonetheless!
