Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play
Categories: soda-fired

Still setting up for this weekend’s HOLIDAY HOME SHOW… maybe you’ve heard of it???

Anyway… I was taken by these fantastic fire flashing marks on the bottom of some large oval vases. As the soda kiln fires & leaves soda-glaze deposits on the pots, some of it sneaks under the pots & leaves wonderful flashing marks. Like these where you can literally see the flame’s path between the wadding that was under the pots during the firing. So cool to see where the flames kissed the pots & left their marks!!! Ahhh… another beauty of soda-firing!!!
