Coming soon to a beautiful garden in Glenview!!! One of my favorite art fairs of the year. ART IN THE GARDEN keeps getting bigger & better every year. A smaller, cozy art fair with a group of talented friends showing off their creative wares. Plus, we’re working on some great collaboration projects just for this show! Giving us a chance to work with each other & merge our mediums & techniques together to make fun one-of-a-kind masterpieces!

In my mind, this show was a week later… good thing I checked…
now I’m a little panicked… lots to do still.

And don’t think that I have forgotten about Alaska. How could I?… is was AMAZING!!!

It’s just that I’ve been crazy busy in the studio getting ready for this weekend’s soda kiln… and I have a TON of photos to go through editing & choosing the best of the best. I promise to post more photos soon. I’m thinking maybe a chronological day-by-day “journey” to show my travels, workshop & adventures through Alaska last week.

Another beautiful morning along the lakefront… chilly with low-flying clouds on the horizon. Kind of enjoying the “false Fall” weather this week… but I am NOT ready for Summer to be over!!!

With a bit of a chill in the air, it was a beautiful morning along the lakefront. Nice clouds, dramatic sunrise & fun waves crashing in! And a great chance to work out some of that post-race lactic acid & loosen up my leg muscles. It felt great to get out on my bike… and my legs feel much better now! And I’m just happy we didn’t have these waves crashing in for Sunday’s triathlon swim in the lake!!!

So this happened too… after swimming, biking & running all morning I felt like I “deserved” a little treat on the way home!!! Frozen custard with cherries, raspberries & chunks of cheesecake swirled inside!!! A little sumthin’-sumthin’ to replenish & reward myself!!!

The weather was perfect today… even with some dramatic clouds moving in at the end of the race. Yet every time, I’m just amazed how beautiful the Buckingham Fountain is… even with the dramatic clouds!!! I feel like a tourist every time… gawking & taking pictures of one of Chicago’s most beautiful landmarks.

So… after a fun week of pottery workshopping, hiking & touring through Alaska… I wasn’t quite sure if I would be prepared for today’s big race. But I was!!! The weather was perfect and I felt strong the whole time! Even though I had only swam in the lake three times this summer… and today was my very first outdoor run of the summer!!! And yet somehow, I made it through the swim, bike & run portions of the race… and then celebrated with my friend Tracy after our annual Chicago Triathlon! Another one in the books!!!

I had an amazing adventure up north in Alaska this past week. And I “might” have taken “just a few” photos along the way! I’ve got a LOT of editing to do… and I promise a lot of posts with a lot of photos. But it might take awhile… as I’ve got to get back into pottery-mode! That soda kiln is not going to load itself by Friday!!! So… until I have a chance, here are a few “teaser” photos from my time in Alaska! Not to mention all of the pottery fun I had with the Fairbanks Potters Guild & my personal “tour guide” Theresa!!! Thank you Alaska!!!

Special thanks to the Fairbanks Potters Guild for making my first Alaska adventure possible. We had a great time making pots & stamping clay together!!! And even bigger THANKS to Theresa for coordinating & pulling it all together… as well as being my personal tour guide. She was fantastic!!!

I had to travel all the way up to Alaska to find the newest flavor!!!
Well worth the trip!!! burp.
