The calm between the storms!
It’s handbuilding day in camp this week. Making cool theme mugs with slabs, textures & add-ons. Morning campers just left… afternoon campers coming in!!! More fun to come… very soon!

The calm between the storms!
It’s handbuilding day in camp this week. Making cool theme mugs with slabs, textures & add-ons. Morning campers just left… afternoon campers coming in!!! More fun to come… very soon!
It was a rather warm & sweaty night in Chicago, not surprisingly followed by a warm & sweaty morning! I figured I could sweat at home in my non-air conditioned condo, or go out for a ride along the lake. I was gonna be sweaty either way!!! And look how beautiful it was outside… the better choice!
Let me say it again… I have the BEST Summer Campers! This week they’re a little younger, but always willing to help & “volunteer” for a job. So who am I to say “no” when they ask if they can clean the floor??? Of course I said YES… as Rule #3 is “Whatever mess you make, you will be cleaning it up.” And they did… first with a few drops of water… and they wanted to keep going! Giddy-up!!!
Now if I could just get some of the adult students to follow their lead?!
It’s been another fun week of summer camp! This week I have 8-10-year olds… for wheelthrowing & handbuilding camp. Today we trimmed & decorated the pots they made on Monday & Tuesday. Tomorrow we start handbuilding! Then Friday painting everything with colored slips!
And I was SO impressed today by Nikko who did some amazing surface decoration using one of my handmade leaf stamps as a sprig to make a 3-dimensional vine on the side of his vase!!!
Wispy clouds & shimmering harbor reflections. Another quiet sunrise bike ride along the lakefront before Summer Camp. Always the best way to start my day!
You gotta love a great morning sunrise skyshow… complete with ever changing clouds & colors!
So… while we were packing up at the end of the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR… I might have had a “few” fortune cookies that “fell off the cart” & never made it into the car. Instead they may have found their way into some hidden spaces in the park “near” where my booth was.
Huge THANKS to everyone who came out to Glenview this weekend for the GLENVIEW SUMMER ART FAIR. We had some “weather challenges”… so it meant a lot that so many people braved the elements to support local artisans. Always good to see my “groupies” & to meet a lot of new pottery fans!!!
Some fun clouds this morning & a small sliver of a crescent moon.
Hazy & humid with a slight chilly breeze… a great way to start the week!!!
