Just in time for the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR… a new glaze combination I’ve been playing around with!!! A drippy runny mess of color playing nicely with my stamped textures. Frequently, glaze tends to fill in all of my stamps. But this time, it’s dripping, running & making cool rivulets of color. Even the undersides have been turning out pretty groovy! We’ll see if people dig ‘em as much as I do?!

Another bonus to hanging out in rural farmlands… WEATHERED BARN BOARDS! Love all the textures & washed-out coolness of Anne’s little barn in back. After a nice dinner “get-together” with the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR Sandwich & Leland artists… we were also treated with an amazing rural sunset for “dessert.” Thanks to our Leland potter host Anne Maraviglia for having us all over for dinner!

A little quick throwing this morning… too rainy to bike! So instead I made a bunch of mini vases that I’m hoping to get into my soda kiln firing in a week and a half. Ten pieces thrown before 10:00am… now I gotta keep them moving along through the process… next up? STAMPING.

Last night in my Intermediate Wheel class, a few of us finished our lamp “assignment” for the last class of the session. A few more were stuck in a glaze kiln cooling… while others struggled with not having all of the correct lamp parts & pieces. I can’t wait to see the rest of them… but until then, here are mine, Tessa’s & Bruce’s lamps. And I do believe it was the first handmade lamp for each of us!!!
