This week in my LILLSTREET THROWDOWN class, the students brought back their “finished” mug… from their first “perfect” prototype cylinder from the first challenge. Always fun to see where they have taken their vision with some trimming, refining & handles!. But then they were tasked with another challenge of throwing a saucer to go along with that mug… similar in design, finish & function. After just 45 minutes, they brought both pieces back to the table for critique & judging. Another fun challenge!

Handles attached… first batch of mugs for the NEW YEAR!!! You know they’re my all-time favorite thing to make. So there will definitely be a LOT more mugs to come!

Time to make some mugs… because I’m a firm believer that a mug without a handle is NOT a mug!!!

So I placed an online order for some new Amaco Underglaze colors from Blick Art Materials. Unfortunately, when they arrived at my studio I only received the small jars… and not the only pint jar of my order?! Assuming it was just a packing mistake, I emailed them & sent pictures of what I received. They were very responsive with FANTASTIC customer service!!! My pint of underglaze arrived quickly… and now I’m moving forward with a new colorful project!!! Thanks to the folks at Blick!!!

Just another night of stamping tonight on this batch of mug cylinders using my own handmade clay stamps. Hoping tomorrow I can trim & get handles attached to all of them!

Last night in my pottery class, my Beginners tackled trimming, pulling & attaching handles… thus finishing their first mugs. And it’s only Week Two!!

While not the healthiest leaf on the plant… trying to propagate in water… this monstera leaf is pretty striking in vibrant color & subtle texture. Perfect for another natural Texture Tuesday!
