Time to get a little “dirty” in the studio this morning… breaking out the terra cotta clay for some special pieces. ART IN THE GARDEN is just two weeks away!

After a string of cloud-free sunrises, it was great to finally a few clouds for the sun to play with! The weather this past week has been FANTASTIC… and it looks like another great one today!!!

Looks like Matthew has pulled together some Friday night fun… hot fudge sundaes with a smattering of blueberries & walnuts!!! And the stamped purple bowls are trying their best to “hide” the fact that there is NOT enough hot fudge… am I right Kristy?!!!

A very productive morning in the studio before 10am… cranking out another batch of mugs! Starting with a bagful of clay… and voila’… twenty mug cylinders!!! Lots of stamping to come!

Last night in my Beginning Wheel class, we did another “trading-exchanging-stealing game” to celebrate our last class of the session… with a category of “Not-So-Basic Bowls.” After several rounds, I came away with this cutie by Allison. Underglaze dots… and a beautiful crazy-crazed clear glaze! Lillstreet has been reformulating some of their glazes… and I think this was made with one of the test batches!

It was a REAL Mugshot Monday in my Intermediate Wheel class this week. It was our final class of the session, and we ended with a great “trading-exchanging-stealing-white elephant” kind of game! With a category of four MATCHING MUGS!!! Almost everyone played along… even one student who didn’t quite get them glazed in time! And that is the set I got in the trade… with a promise from Kathy that she will glaze them for me soon!!! But she likes glazing almost as much as I do… NOT!!!

Christine’s Mugs

Darcy’s Mugs

Stephanie’s Mugs

Abena’s Mugs … which also STACK!!!

Maryana’s Mugs

D’s Mugs

Kathy’s UNGLAZED Mugs

And MY stamped mugs… and a brand new reveal “chambray blue” glaze!

Celebrating another Mugshot Monday with a splash of color! As someone who does not drink coffee or tea, I don’t use many mugs. Ironically, the mug is my all-time favorite thing to make… and I make a LOT of them! So for those non-caffeine drinkers… mugs make great vases too!

Fresh from the kiln… for another Mugshot Monday! For tonight’s final night of the session for my Intermediate Wheel class, our “white elephant trading stealing exchanging game” was a set of four matching mugs! Of course I had to play along… and I made two sets! Giving myself options to pick out my favorite set of four… with a few “extras” to choose from.

And wait… what is that? A new glaze color??? Yes!!! The very first pieces out of the kiln in the new chambray blue color. I’m not quite sure yet. I like the green so much better… but the blue might grow on me?!

You tell me… Do we like it or not???

On such a beautiful day, I just had to get outside again to play hookey for the afternoon! Waves were still crazy with the wind blowing through… didn’t care! Just loved being outside… before heading back inside to teach class tonight!

Just like yesterday, this morning was still quite WINDY with crazy-cool waves crashing all over the place! The ride headed south was great fun… whoo-hoo tailwind!!! Then some fun playing with the splashing waves… almost getting doused a couple times! Always exciting when the waves are high enough to crash up & over onto the bike route! Dangerous… but exciting nonetheless!
