A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Not a lot of clouds, but a good amount of hazy colors.
Shimmering reflections on perfectly still water. A very serene morning on my bike.

You know I love a yummy national holiday… like today being NATIONAL CHEESECAKE DAY! So I just had to “celebrate” tonight after teaching my pottery class! Thank you Eli’s!!!

Another favorite flower… purple echinacea very similar to my other favorite black-eyed susan! Always fun when they bloom & the butterflies find them in time to spread the lovin’!

HAPPY MUGSHOT MONDAY… celebrating with this sweet little Summer Camper mug!!! Sure, a little rough around the edges, but it shows promise… and they were only 9-years old!!!

Quick THANKS to the folks at MKM Pottery Tools for the shout-out on their social media platforms! Fun to be featured for the “hybrid mugs” I’ve been making… using their textured handrollers for the patterns! Be sure to check them out. And what a great reminder… I’ve got to make MORE of these “hybrid mugs”!!!

Layers of clouds. Layers of colors. Layers of places for the sun to hide behind. Another beautiful morning for a bike ride along the lakefront.

No scurvy here… just some large clementines in a stamped & glazed bowl. Loving the color combination of the orange & green together!

My newest mantra… “Paint your POTS, not your hands!!!”

Categories: summer camp

This year at summer camp, the kids are decorating with colored slips on Fridays… instead of rushing through the process & glazing hot pots fresh from the bisque kiln on Friday. It makes for a much “calmer” Friday & gives the kids a bit more time to focus om making their pots a mini masterpiece!!! After they leave, their pots will be bisqued, glazed with clear, and fired again by Lillstreet “monitors” before the campers come back to pick-up their pots.
