a bright spot on a gloomy gray day.
Well, there’s supposed to be a skyline in there somewhere?!!! Apparently not so much today. Dark, cloudy & a little misty in places. Not the best weather for those out riding “Bike The Drive’ this morning… as I was wondering why all of the Lake Shore Drive entrances were blocked off with blue flashing police lights this morning as I started my dark “lack-of-sunrise” ride???
So after a fun studio visit a few weeks back, metalsmith Amy Taylor added a bit of her whimsy & charm to my stamped cylinders. Again, we’re working on these as a special collaboration project for ART IN THE GARDEN! It’s fun to watch her work in clay for a change… and she’s making them very ADORBS-able!!!
ART IN THE GARDEN
Saturday, September 10th & Sunday, September 11th – 10:00am-5:00pm
So now that my textured slab vases are moving along, it looks like my pal Cory McCrory is moving along with her part of the collaboration too! More to come…
So my textured slab vases are all assembled, now with three small holes in the tops. How cute would it be to have a single flower stem in each of those holes???… enter Cory McCrory for some whimsical & colorful “additions” for this ART IN THE GARDEN collaboration!
So once I had my cylinders stamped & trimmed, Amy Taylor came over to my studio to work on her part of our second ART IN THE GARDEN collaboration project. Amy makes a great line of jewelry that has these whimsical characters on them… called “ADORBS.” So I thought it would be great fun if Amy worked her “ADORBS” magic in clay on the side of my cylinders! And she did!!!
Lots of clouds this morning along the lakefront giving us some early color & drama. Quiet & still as the sun continued to work its way behind the clouds.
And now back to the collaboration that I’m working on with my pal Cory McCrory for ART IN THE GARDEN. I started with some stamped & textured slabs… and now assembling them into “box” vases… adding tops & closing them up!
Just a little teaser from my friend & master metalsmith Sarah Chapman. So while I’m scrambling over this weekend’s soda kiln & my next two September art fairs… she’s already planning another fun event with a few of her talented art friends!
More to come… as one of them is ME!!!
You know how much I LOVE a good challenge… and a good collaboration! So amidst all of my summer camps, studio time, glazing, wadding & biking… why not throw one more collaboration together for ART IN THE GARDEN?! More is more, right???
So, here’s the plan… do another collaboration with metalsmith Amy Taylor! But this time, she’s going to be working on my turf!!! No metal… just clay… inspired by her “ADORBS” collection of whimsical jewelry! So here we go…
