Ready to make their big ART FAIR DEBUT… some of my newest RED soda-fired pieces. Yes, I will have a very limited quantity of some new RED pottery… stamped & soda-fired and looking for a new home!!! Several mugs, vases, flower pots & mini vases at the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR this weekend. There’s not a lot of them yet… so I think they might go fast?! I mean, that is if anyone even likes RED pottery???

Just in time for the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR!

When passing the shelves of student’s glazed works last night, I was taken by this beautiful plate! Striking details accentuated with a wonderful ombre blend of sprayed glazes. So fun to see that it was made by one of my former students who seems to have succumb to the “more is more” mantra… and is killin’ it!!! This plate is beautiful Kimberly… so pretty that I moved it up to “The Show-Off Shelves”!!! Well done… and make MORE!!!

So I threw this challenge out awhile back, but no Oreo-Ritz Combo treats have shown up??… until last night!!! Huge kudos to one of my students Kate who “took one for the team” and made her own version!!! And for the record… everybody LOVED them!!!

Upon further investigation, a few people have told me that they only made a thousand boxes of these combo treats. And someone found a box on EBAY for around $500!!! Yikes!!!… homemade worked for us!!! So now methinks I owe Kate a FREE MUG for “succeeding “ in the challenge ?!!!

SHE KILLED IT AGAIN!!!

Yes, Chelsea the “Queen of Glaze” worked her magic one more time!!! This second bowl is just as stunning as that first bowl… I kinda wish I had more bowls for her to glaze! As glazing is my least favorite part of the pottery process.

So here’s Chelsea’s “recipe” that made this magic happen… 1- Galaxy Black inlaid in the carvings and wiped back. 2- dipped in Chun Blue. 3- some Coleman Apple Green on the ridges. 4- some Rutile Blue. 5- Finished with some Cohen’s Red swirled in the bottom. Of course there is not guarantee that Chelsea’s “magic” will work exactly the same way for anyone else!!!

If you want to see more of Chelsea’s glaze magic, she will also be part of the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR at the Aurora stop!

Counting the days until THE NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR… and Kenyon Hansen will also be one of the Guest Potters at Cory McCrory’s studio in Sandwich, Illinois. Kenyon’s pots are pretty darn amazing… and already part of my own personal collection! Well-crafted, clean lines, amazing glazes & great style. I know I can’t wait to see more of his current work, and quite possibly add more to my collection… and you should too!
