So we recently got a new slip color at Lillstreet.
RED… and not a rusty iron red, but a true holiday red!!!
I’ve used it a couple times with some of my Summer Campers… but never on my own work. So this is a test. I can’t wait to see if it does anything cool in the soda kiln. Might be nice, might not be… we’ll see in a couple weeks!
What better way to celebrate than with another batch of mugs freshly stamped, assembled & accents painted with colored flashing slips.
Stamped mugs getting a little lovin’ with some accents painted with colored flashing slip. If all goes well during the soda-firing, this slip will change to a smooth orange color with nice flashing effects.
Here we go again… more handles… more fun… making more MUGS!!! Always my favorite thing to make!!!
While I know they’re not “real” mugs… we’re still celebrating another MUGSHOT MONDAY with these fun paintings by Robert Sedestrom currently hanging in the Lillstreet 2nd Floor Gallery Annex. Robert’s studio is kinda across from mine… but it’s great to see what he’s been working on in there when they’re displayed properly on the white gallery walls.
Possibly the cutest little cup & saucer ever… part of my class demo last week about “throwing-off-the-hump.” Where you start with a large lump of clay, center just the top nugget and throw smaller pieces off the top.
Just finished stamping, trimming & adding colored slip details to the lidded jars I started as part of a demo for my Intermediate Wheelthrowing class last week. Always feels good when everything fits together… and you set them aside to start drying!
