Beautiful roses for a beautiful birthday present for my friend Kelly. Her Mom gave her the stunning flowers… and Kelly put them in one of my stamped & soda-fired vases. Gorgeous roses… but methinks Kelly might need a bigger vase soon???
Today is the first official day of Fall. I’m still struggling to hang onto Summer a little longer. But the cold rainy day today & leaves already changing color isn’t helping any! Too soon…
I’ve been having a devilishly good time assembling the latest addition to THE GHOULS COLLECTION this week. Many late hours in the studio trying to get them all ready for their big debut at ART IN THE BARN this weekend. Looks like they’re all good with horns, ears & quirky faces. Time to add some color… quickly!!!
Good thing my new underglazes arrived in time… the new batch of Ghouls wouldn’t be nearly as cute if they were all terra cotta “rusty orange” colored! Some times some Ghouls really need some RED!!!
A fun little trio sitting on the side of the table… a perfect trifecta a “fan” picked up from ART IN THE GARDEN last weekend! Including a handpainted collaboration piece I did with Mary Foster. Such a sweet grouping of green!
Sometimes a simple weed is so much more. I love the way that nature always finds its own way… even when there’s just a crack of dirt, a slice of sun and a lot of architectural structure all around.
So Kate thought it as time to give her aloe vera plant a little more room to grow. She separated the “babies” from the mother plant and gave them each their own stamped & soda-fired flower pot. After a long afternoon of re-potting… it’s good to see that Kate is also kicking back and enjoying the new mug she picked up at ART IN THE GARDEN.
Mark your calendars for next weekend when we finally get to go back for ART IN THE BARN in Barrington! We were cancelled last year for obvious reasons… and SO EXCITED to get back to it this year! Sure, we’re all going to be masked-up & basically outdoors… doing what we need to do to keep everyone safe! I’ll be in my usual double booth space in the Lower Barn E4 & E6 with plenty of pottery… along with the newest addition to The Ghouls Collection! Sure, they might be fresh outta the kiln & still warm, but…
Looks like someone is celebrating a little MUGSHOT MONDAY with one of my “hybrid mugs”! A combination with wheelthrown & handbuilt parts… a groovy texture with a fun soda-fired finish!
So excited that this custom order was “delivered” during ART IN THE GARDEN last weekend. Molly has one of my large ClayQuilts hanging on her wall… a wall hanging of smaller stamped & soda-fired handmade tiles. She thought it would be even better with three larger tiles hanging off to the side. So I made a few for her to choose from, and she chose these three to hang along with her original tile wall piece. I can’t wait for her to share the photos after they have been installed together! Hint, hint Molly!
