Celebrating another MUGSHOT MONDAY with this little green glazed mug… stamped on two sides instead of all the way around. Just playing around trying something new?!

Brief moments of sunrise spectacle this morning… just before the colors dissipated and the clouds took over for the rest of the day. It was a cloudy ride for the most part… but these colors were a FANTASTIC way to kick it off!

Happy to announce that I have been invited to be part of the NORTHERN ILLINOIS POTTERY TOUR this year – June 18th, 19th & 20th! It’s a brand new tour… going virtual this year… and then in-person next year & onward. I will be one of the Invited Guest Artists with my friend Cory McCrory in Sandwich, Illinois. It’s exciting to be part of this tour from the very beginning… and I’m sure there will be a lot of fun information & pottery coming your way soon!!!

Just finishing up a couple more spoons… ‘cuz I’m kinda hooked… even though I still haven’t fired the first batch to see if I even like them when they’re done!!! Might be a problem…

Such a beautiful afternoon for a bike ride. Sure, maybe I should be home working on my taxes. But they gave us an extension for a reason… and I might need every day of it. I mean, we still have three-and-half days… and today is GORGEOUS! You do the math…

And just in case you were wondering… here are a few finished pieces by My Talented Friend Susan Slogoff. She helped with our sgraffito class last night and brought these examples to share with my students. Crazy cool, right?!

Here are some of the sgraffito projects that my students created… along with Susan’s demo pieces from last night’s SURFACE DECORATION class. They had a great time playing with their little porcelain plates, as well as our “guest artist” Susan Slogoff. Such a fun night at Lillstreet!

As part of last night’s “Sgraffito Surprise” demo in my SURFACE DECORATIONS class… I brought in my pal Susan Slogoff to show off some of her superior sgraffito skills. She’s one of our best sgraffito artists at Lillstreet and I knew that she would be a welcome “surprise” guest artist for my class! Susan shared info & did some demos before we unleashed my students to do their own sgraffito on some small porcelain plates I had pre-prepped for them!

Susan has been my teaching assistant for years, but with reduced class sizes at Lillstreet, we’ve also lost our assistants. It was so great to have her back in class with me… and looking forward to getting back to larger classes & having Susan back teaching with me!

You know how I love to celebrate a good holiday… especially when it’s NATIONAL APPLE PIE DAY! I mean, it would be “rude” to not participate, right? Even if it’s just with a mini-pie?… although I kinda wish I had three of these?!

Tonight in my SURFACE DECORATION pottery class, we’re tackling a little sgraffito!!! I’ve got a couple surprises ready for them… and sharing my collection of DiamondCore Carving Tools for them to play with!!!
