These tools have been very productive today!
Gotta love a full day of wheelthrowing… at least until you start to run out of shelf space to store the pots under plastic?!
Staying warm, staying inside… making more bowls in the studio. Can’t wait for these to stiffen up a bit so I can stamp them and move them along in the process… let the transformation begin… soon to be “something to behold”!!!
A few more happy succulents enjoying the bright sunlight on my dining room windowsill… and their stamped & soda-fired flowerpots!
Love this mural on Chicago’s West side
honoring the sixteenth President.
What a difference a few years of experience & a few thousand pots can make!!! I remember making the large bowl on the right “back in the day” at the old Lillstreet location… it was the largest thing I had ever made!!! I was so excited to decorate the rim with colored slips… before I “found” stamps! Sure, it might weigh three or four times more than it should… has a very heavy & clunky bottom… and has a bit of a beginner’s ledge on the interior curve… but who cares when it’s filled with popcorn?! The one on the left is newer, decoratively stamped and weighs what it should with a much better footring, a perfectly smooth interior curve… and holds popcorn too!!!
Thanks Gerry & Rosene for the trip down Memory Lane!
Looks like one of my green stamped mugs is taking a little “vacation” at a nice exotic location?! Sure, it’s freezing cold here in Chicago… while this mug is relaxing in front of a cozy waterfall down in Georgia! Thanks for sharing your morning with us Angela!
It’s always rewarding as a teacher when you do the demo in class, and then your students actually try the same demo and SUCCEED with their own plates… some of them for the first time ever!!! Yeah Team!!!
Last night in my pottery class at Lillstreet, we tackled plates & platters with some of my more Advanced Beginners. I showed my students the basics with two plates & one platter. All safely up in my studio now awaiting a bit of stamping activity… hopefully later today!!!
So, unbeknownst to many… today was a National Holiday!!!
And it would just be “rude” if I didn’t celebrate, right?!
I like holidays… especially when it’s NATIONAL PIZZA DAY!!!
Doing a little carving on another TEXTURE TUESDAY!
Carving textures instead of stamping… for a change!
