Along my ride yesterday through the Skokie Northshore Channel Park, I passed this statue to Gandhi… with some very thoughtful, caring & appropriate messages especially during these trying times.
After dropping off my pottery in Evanston, I continued north to “explore” more of our beautiful lakefront. I started by heading up along the Skokie Channel Park, and then over into Wilmette along their lakefront… as the Chicago lakefront is STILL on total lockdown. A beautiful day along the lake, blue skies, great breezy… nature is amazing!
Another great “escape” from the craziness going on around us… another solitary ride, another chance to get outside while carefully steering clear of everyone!!!
So it has come to this… yesterday I did my first no-contact pottery delivery! I rode my bike up into Evanston to drop off two mugs for a customer who bought them online. I took all the precautions, wore gloves & my “mask”… we chatted from about 20-feet away… and then I pedaled away! All good, but… I MISS ART FAIRS!!! I miss seeing & interacting with my customers! Some day soon, I hope!
Yesterday was another great Instagram Live with Steve Lee from the Archie Bray! He’s doing weekly “shows” every Friday… this time from his own shelter-in-place studio in his basement. It was great to see him doing some throwing demos again, this time on the treadle wheel he built for himself back in college! Crazy, right?! Be sure to tune in next week on the Archie Bray Instagram Feed for more with Steve Lee!
Little Teagan might be a bit under the weather today, but it look she’s more than ready for breakfast in her fancy new ceramic bowls!!! Teagan’s Mom is one of my IRONMAN biking buddies… so breakfast just might be pie ala mode!!!
Looks like my friend Tracy found the perfect mug to warm up her morning Stroopwafel. Not a hundred percent sure what that is… but it looks pretty yummy. Kinda flat for a waffle?… and missing the syrup!!! But I might need to try these out when we’re released from captivity!
Here’s a little musical interlude to brighten your day… now taking on a slightly different message than it did back in 1980 when The Police first released it. Enjoy… and don’t stand so close to me… SIX FEET PLEASE!!!
It’s so hard to believe that it has already been four full weeks since we were last together celebrating the “finale” of our LILLSTREET THROWDOWN class. So much has changed since then. In our lives. In the world. It is just weird to see the Lillstreet classrooms so empty, so quiet. No wheels turning. No pots being made. No kilns firing. We are all looking forward to happier & healthier days when we can all return to play in the clay together.
Until then, I hope everyone is staying safe, staying well & staying creative!
My students all know how much I LOVE a good spiral…
too bad they’re “not around” these days for me to play with…
err, teach.
I miss them… and I kinda miss them making fun of my spiral bowls!!!
