With another art fair in the books, it’s time to clean my studio, pull out a big batch of clay to reclaim… and start back in on production for my next big art fair!
Tomorrow night my “Simply Soda” class is wrapping up and we’ve got a little challenge going on! For our final class this session, we decided to do a “White Elephant” trading swapping game for handmade planters. So the plan is that each student had to make a soda-fired planter during this session, bring it to the last class and trade it for another one. It was my students who went one step further and decided we should add a plant our planters BEFORE the trade!!! So I just planted mine for tomorrow’s class…
Early morning stop on my way to ART IN THE GARDEN. Thanks Allison for the recommendation. But since when is a dozen donuts have sixteen? Only at Joe Donut in Glenview. Good thing I pedaled & swam this morning!!
Huge thanks to everyone who came to ART IN THE GARDEN yesterday…
like my friend Allison who snatched up this new mug! Remember, we’re open again today from 10:00am-5:00pm. Come see us in Glenview!
Here’s a few of the collaboration salt & pepper shakers sets that went home yesterday. It’s a “mix & match” your own perfect set collaboration. You get one Cory shaker, one Gary shaker and one tray by either me or Cory. A fun game to put together your “perfect” set… a little harder for some with far too many combination options! Remember, again today only at ART IN THE GARDEN. We have a lot of great shakers & combinations left to play with!!!
Early morning clouds with just a sliver of the moon. Harbor reflections on a somewhat choppy lake. All together another beautiful sunrise ride… and now, back to ART IN THE GARDEN for Day Two!!!
Amy Taylor made an amazing pendant using a ceramic hand made by Cory McCrory!!!
Just another collaboration you’ll see at ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend
in Glenview!!! Stop by Saturday or Sunday from 10:00am-5:00pm.
Here’s another “sneak peek” at some of the collaboration pieces that ART IN THE GARDEN host & master metalsmith Amy Taylor made with my textured tile “cabachons.” Limited quantities… come early to snatch yours up!
So I got a quick sneak peek at some more of the collaboration pieces that Amy Taylor has been working on with whimsical clay body parts by Cory McCrory & wood-turned pieces by Ken Skaggs. Can’t wait to see them for the big final reveal at ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend in Glenview!!!
Here’s the full information for ART IN THE GARDEN… tomorrow & Sunday!!!
There’s been a LOT of glazing going on in my studio lately.
Getting ready to load my next soda kiln. Getting ready for ART IN THE GARDEN.
Lots of liner glazes. Lots of glaze inlay. Lots of wiping clean.
Lots of “tricks” to help make the textures pop more after soda firing!
