Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play
Categories: stamped, stamps

After weeks & weeks of spritzing, spraying & re-hydrating, I finally found tine to do some stamping. Yes, this platter has been under-wraps for about three weeks (maybe four?) since I did a wheelthrowing demo fro my class. So I’ve been a little busy… so maybe a bit of procrastination… but I finally did it tonight!

So I pulled out one of my MANY stamps… and started stamping around the rim of the platter.

And the stamp that was doing all of the magic!

Soon enough, after a few revolutions around the platter… it was all stamped and done!

A few impressions… each stamp pressed in one at a time… one by one… by one… by one…

After two recent art fairs, it’s time to start up the process again. I’d love to start throwing… but first things first. A little housekeeping with a pile of goopy & gooey reclaimed clay setting up on my plaster bat. A couple days there, a lot of wedging and soon enough I’ll have a LOT of free clay to play with again!!!

Always fun to see one of my new vases gracing the table for a 21st Birthday Dinner! Love the purple flowers… good to see that the “grid” insert works well to keep the flowers arranged. Thanks for sharing Matt.

Another stunning sunrise! Love the red ripples reflecting
on Lake Michigan on another cloudy morning.

Stamped porcelain mug with a thin white glaze.
Pretty much the “opposite” of the typical soda-fired colors & flashings!

A steamy drive to the studio this afternoon!
Over a hundred degrees… and it’s not even Summer yet!!!

Yes, it was this past Saturday before the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival. The morning colors were spectacular… but just not enough time to post them before rushing to open my tent at the art fair. But trust me… it was worth the wait!!!

So this morning’s ride was a bit anticlimactic.
Not many dramatic sunrise colors bouncing off the clouds.
Just a warm morning ride along the lakefront before the heat of the day set in.

Huge THANKS to everyone who came out to the ‘burbs this weekend for the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival. We had a great time – beautiful weather, tons of sunshine, albeit a few gusts, and a lot of great friends, Facebook Fans and customers stopping by to say Hello!!! So much fun seeing everyone… and watching a lot of my pots head off to their new homes!!! Thanks again Hinsdale!
