Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

Stunning colors before the clouds. Incredible pinks, reds and purples. Lots of clouds for the sunrise to splash across. Yet all too soon, those same clouds took over and obliterated the sunrise all together. At least it started out nice, right?! And one last “training” bike ride beofre this weekend’s big Tri race!

Hope you’re having a fun Fourth of July celebration with family & friends. Enjoy the fireworks this evening… just remember to keep them at a safe distance! Or from the safety of your computer screen right here!!!

After two days of breathtaking sunrises, I must admit I was a tad disappointed this morning with GRAY. Just a blanket of clouds everywhere. Gray. Gray. Gray. Maybe that was just to make the fireworks this evening look even better, huh?!

Wishing everyone a fun & safe Fourth Of July holiday today. Celebrate with picnics, parades, carnivals, cotton candy, corn dogs, friends, fireworks and whatever else makes your day special. I know I’ll be doing ALL of the above!!!

Big sunrise sky show this morning. Huge.
So big that just ONE big photo couldn’t capture it… so here’s THREE.
What starts out bright & vibrant all too soon dissipates in the morning sky. Enjoy.

This might look like a postcard from Paradise, but I swear it was taken this morning along the Lake during my sunrise bike ride… in Chicago!!! Not Mexico. Not Hawaii. Not Bora Bora.

ANOTHER AMAZING SKY SHOW!!!
Just when you thought yesterday’s sunrise was pretty incredible… today’s might have just up’d the ante! The colors, the sweep of clouds and the eventual sunrise reflections.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

A little further down the road… the splash of color had gone, but Belmont Harbor had a cool illumination reflecting through the harbor.

We’ve been doing this Monthly Holiday Ornament Challenge for six months now. It’s a little tough for the ceramic folks to show finished pieces in a timely basis. What with needing to glaze and fill a kiln and all. So we frequently just show the greenware versions of the ornaments and hope that people can “visualize” the finished outcome. Well, Roberta has been busy glazing & finishing some of her ornaments from previous months. No more “guessing”…. now you can see the real thing. And how incredible they all look!!!
