Pulling together some class demo bowls to donate for tonight’s EMPTY BOWLS event at Lillstreet Art Center. Stop by tonight from 5:00-8:00pm for some great pottery at a great price… great soup… and a great cause! Now I’m sure there are more bowls somewhere around here…

So does anyone else see the irony in the tax deadline extension to Monday due to Washington DC celebrating “Emancipation Day” today with a day off?! Thank you Mr. Lincoln. Now if I could just get a little emancipation from that huge $$$ check I’ve got to write on Monday?!

Another beautiful sunrise. Another beautiful diversion. Sure, I “should be” focused on getting my taxes done… but c’mon, my bike was calling me!!!

Tomorrow may be “taxing” for some… but it is also a great opportunity to help those less fortunate. Tomorrow evening is the EMPTY BOWLS fundraising event at Lillstreet Art Center. Come buy a handmade bowl, get it filled with soup and feel good as the proceeds go to benefit First Slice Pie Café and its efforts in serving nearly 4,000 meals each month to Chicago’s hungry. Make every day less “taxing” for those in need… and YOU keep the bowl!!!

During tonight’s pottery class we did a quick taste test of the newest M&M flavors. First off, let me just say that I like plain M&M’s better than peanut. However, I’m always willing to take one for the team when it comes to chocolate. Overall, I think the coffee flavor won the most votes. Except from me… the non-coffee drinker!!! I still like plain better. Just sayin’…

It was another chilly morning with clear skies.
Just the finest line of small clouds along the horizon.

The lake was more than a little choppy…
making it a fun sunrise game of catching the waves at the perfect moment.

Timing is everything!

And I just LOVE that exact moment when the sun just barely peeks over the horizon.
Such a brief moment of time. Mere seconds. A hot spot on the horizon. A sparkle of sunshine.

And then all too soon, the sun comes up in full force. And the game of catching the moment continues. The moment when the “light” shows up in the lighthouse, but not as intended.

Plus the ever-popular game of catching the perfect waves as they get illuminated by the morning sunrise!
