This is the last week of Winter classes at Lillstreet…
also known affectionately as “Potluck Week.”

My class is tomorrow night… but it was a great surprise when one of my former students stopped upstairs to drop off some homemade cookies in my studio!!! I have the best students… both current and alumni. Thanks for the treat Chuck!!!

Well, it’s been a busy day of making more mugs! You know they’re my favorite!
Half of them are stoneware with iron – destined for cone 10 reduction glazes.
And the other half are B-clay reclaim – destined for cone 6 oxidation glazes.

And here’s a closer look… details, patterns,  and stamped textures!

Wedged clay cut into little carrot shapes. Pulled with a little wet friction.
When I get them to a desired width & thickness, I flip them over and set them up so they can stiffen up a bit. In about 15 minutes, I’ll start attaching them to the mug cylinders.

Celebrating Pi Day with a slice of homemade pie around my neck!
It’s so much fun to have talented friends who know you so well…
and know of your love of homemade pie! We’ve often joked that the main reason I bike so much is so that I can eat more pie!!! And my bike has been known to stop at many a homemade pie place!

So this wonderful little adornment was a gift from my friend & talented metalsmith Amy Taylor. Such a “sweet” and thoughtful gift from one pie lover to another! Click here to see more of Amy’s wonderful metalsmith masterpieces!

Guess I’ll need to celebrate at least a couple times today?! If I must…

Here’s a great INSTAGRAM shout-out from a friend & fan in Montana.
“Can coffee fix Daylight Savings? Only if it’s out of a Fire When Ready Pottery mug.”

I’m sure those tie-dyed pajama pants can’t hurt either!!! Thanks Anne!

The morning started out with a beautiful splash of color. All too soon the color dissipated and faded. I was hoping for a resurgence of color, but we never quite got it.

The clouds were quickly replaced as a crazy wave of fog enveloped the City. It was pretty cool… and a little tough to see too far ahead of you! Including the new Ferris Wheel being assembled at Navy Pier!

At Lillstreet Art Center we’re getting ready for our Empty Bowls fundraiser. So tonight was our first Bowl-A-Thon to make a bunch of bowls. Everyone was making bowls to donate made with complimentary clay thanks to Dave & Bruce. I made my first six… with more to come!

While we’ve been enjoying a bit of a warm spell, this morning’s damp coolness caught me a little off-guard… and a little chilly without all of my layers on. But worth it… still pretty amazing!
