Just getting ready for tomorrow’s big show! Unpacking, cleaning & pricing the pieces from Monday’s cone 6 glaze firing. And loving the quick pop of color!!! These porcelain cups are perfect for a quick sip of water, or a quick shot of something stronger. Some may call them yunomi’s… I call them adorable!!! Fun bright colors and very smooth to the touch. Ready to go tomorrow!!! First come, first served… just like the collaboration pieces with my metalsmith friend Amy Taylor!!! So come early…

And don’t forget… mugs too!!!… you know they’re my very favorite thing to make.

A fun & colorful diversion from soda-firing. I think I need to explore this cone 6 glazing a bit more. I’d love to find a few more glazes that are deep & saturated colors, and yet break well in the stamps. Any suggestions?… please feel free to add your favorite glaze recipe in the Comments section. Thanks.

Yesterday’s ride was pretty stunning… but today was even better.
The early morning cloud-cover was full of potential. And it definitely did not disappoint.

ANOTHER SUNRISE MORNING STUNNER.

Meanwhile, back over the City’s skyline…

Apparently my friend Amy Taylor has been making more than just pendants for our collaboration project. Now there are some new “mud & metal” bracelets in the mix too!!! Be sure to stop by my condo this Saturday 12/12 for MUD & METAL. There will be a limited number of collaboration pieces available… all being revealed Saturday morning!!!

Look who’s taken up residence in a large stamped bowl. Apparently these mischievous Elves have abandoned their “shelf” to wreak some havoc with my cousins up in Minnesota!!! Looks like they’re taking a “bubble bath” in sugar cubes!!!

That Amy Taylor is such a tease!!! We can “almost” see what she’s been doing on our collaboration project. Remember, the BIG REVEAL is this Saturday at my place for our annual MUD & METAL Collaborative Holiday Home Show from 10:00am-6:00pm. She’s only making a few… so come early to snatch one up!!!

Okay, so it’s been one of the longest running musicals here in Chicago ever. And after seven-and-a-half year at the Apollo Theater, “Million Dollar Listing” has announced that they will be closing in mid-January. Cue my panic to see the show... so last night we did. Finally.

It’s a fun show filled with wonderful music by four musical legends. Telling the story of one fateful night in December when four recording legends all converged at Sun Records… and musical magic occurred… with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins as their careers were on the rise before they were superstars.

The show celebrates their music, their story and the times of a struggling Sun Records. Adapted from one magical evening, caught on film by Sun Records owner George Pierce… along with a “mystery girlfriend” of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Evans portrayed in the show as the sympathetic & smooth-voiced “Dyann.”

“Million Dollar Quarter” runs through January 17th, 2016 at the Apollo Theater in Chicago.
Don’t put it off any longer. I put it off for over seven years, and SO GLAD I got to see it before it leaves Chicago. Well worth the wait… Goodness gracious, Great balls of fire!!!
