Okay, so I spent tonight in the studio AGAIN glazing tiles! Who knew that a bucket full of tiles would take SO long to glaze?! Not me. Of course it’s my own fault. If my calculations are right, I only need 450 tiles for my part of the collaboration project with Cory McCrory. And since I’m a just little bit of an over-achiever, I just finished glazing 724 tiles!!! So I may have a “few” extras. Now I need to get them loaded into a kiln early next week.
This morning had a lot of clouds sweeping across the sky. Great potential for a fine sunrise. My plan was to ride down, do a TRI-training swim, and then ride back. But the waves were crashing more than expected. So in the category of “decisions my Mom would be proud of,” I chose to skip swimming, and instead went home and added on a 3-mile run instead.
Hard to believe, but it’s already time to start planning for Fall.
And it’s time to consider taking a pottery class. Come play in the clay with us!!!
The Fall Session of my class will begin on Tuesday, September 9th, 2014.
I will once again be teaching my Beginning & Advanced Beginning Wheelthrowing class. It’s a ten-week class, so we’ll cover all the basics from start-to-finish for the brand new beginners. For those who have a good start, we’ll push a little further and try a few more “advanced” projects. I’m open for anything, and our class syllabus is always built off of who we have in class. Plus, as an added bonus, you also get full access to Open Studio hours. So you can come in and practice every day of the week!!!
Sign up and pay in full for adult fall 2014 classes by August 24 and save $20 on any 10-week class or $10 on any 5-week class. Click here to register online!
And sign-up early as my class typically fills up fast.
Don’t get stuck on the waiting list!!!
Another talented potter making fun pots. The Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival was Lesley’s first “big” art fair… and I knew she would be a hit!!! So I made sure to snag a great mug early Saturday morning before she sold out.
Lesley has been doing a lot of slip trailing decoration on her work lately. The intricate designs remind me of some traditional henna tattoo patterns. She then rubs some glaze onto the bisqued slip trailing, and wipes it off to give it that “ghostly” haze that pops the decoration right off the pot. Beautiful. And besides these, she was also showing off her whimsical side with fish, owls and other musical pieces!!!
