Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play
Categories: artists, movie

So my new Swedish potter-friend Saga Johnsson has created a wonderful film.
It’s a couple of days in the life of a potter in Sweden… and the making of one of her trademark mugs from start to finish. It’s a great little film. Love the style. Love the music!!! What a great idea… a little shameless self-promotion with a wonderful twist. Brilliant!!!!

Excuse me, but I purchased a stoneware pitcher in Sweden and it is signed ‘SAGA 85’ I have not been able to find out any information based on the signature – could it possibly have been made by your friend?

REBECCA – I would say there’s a very good chance. She is currently working primarily with terra cotta earthenware, but may have been using stoneware back in 1985. I would suggest contacting her directly, and possibly attaching a photo of your pitcher, to see if you can verify that she made it. But like I said, I think there’s a VERY good chance. Good luck. Here’s Saga’s e-mail… info@sagakeramik.se
