Sounds like fun, huh?
Yes, after a long summer of art fair packing & unpacking… let’s just say
that my storage room was “more than a little” out of control. Yikes!
Crates here… boxes there… pottery everywhere!!!
Luckily, my best “art fair assistants” (aka – my Mom & Dad) also like to
clean, fold and organize things. Lucky me, huh?! So we spent the day down
in the storage room reorganizing my inventory. We pulled out all the crates,
unpacked everything, dusted, cleaned, separated and even did some re-pricing.
I found a few inconsistencies of prices between similar items. So we developed
some new pricing parameters and everything now makes sense. Plus, I can now
see more clearly what inventory needs to be replenished.
Also, while down there going through everything…
we also pulled out a LOT of pieces for the annual “Tired Of Shlepping Sale.”
I think it will be largest collection of clearance, demo & “shlepped” pieces ever!!!
Yep… coming soon to a Holiday Home Show near you!!!
That’s my place the weekend before Thanksgiving… mark your calendars!
Welcome to Pigeon Road Pottery… and the beautiful view down Amy’s road.
A beautiful fall weekend full of beautiful fall colors. And lots of beautiful pots
just down Pigeon Road up in the Wisconsin Northwoods!!!
After my fun weekend up in the Wisconsin Northwoods… spending a lot of quality time
with my friend & wonderful potter Amy Higgason – I came home with some great
new pots to add to my collection! A beautiful carved bowl and a large platter. Each more
stunning than the next. The amount of time & effort she puts into each piece is amazing!
When someone asked how our ceramic works compares to each other…
one happy customer (thank you Pat) summed it up quite eloquently as
“Amy’s work is more feathery, Gary’s work is more footprinty.”
Oddly accurate if you really take time to think about it.
Tonight’s class demo is always one of my favorites – basic bowls on purpose!
Not a cylinder gone bad… and oops, there it is… voila’… a bowl?!!!
Instead, a bowl made intentionally from the start, with a plan, on purpose.
So I started with a quick demo of how to make the basic bowl.
And then continued to show the class how you can simply & quickly alter the rims
of the bowls to make them a little less basic… and a little more style, a little more fun!
Some simple twisting, torquing, slipping, stamping, swirling, etc. A little time
drying, then I can do a little stamping… and look, we have a bunch of new bowls!!!
After a wonderful weekend up in the Wisconsin Northwoods with my friend Amy Higgason,
it felt great to be back home and back in the saddle again. And what a wonderful sunrise
this morning. Albeit chilly, dark & damp… stunning nonetheless!!!
It started out very dark with an incredible “angle” of cloud cover… and a moon still showing…
slashing across the sky and changing through all the shades of indigo & blues.
And then the sun peeked out of the horizon, the sky lit up as the clouds began to dissipate.
And created a wonderful “impressionistic” splash across the sky.
