Hi Gary,
I’m a jewelry artist – I saw you at the Art in the Barn. Your things are really nice. I was also in the Lower Barn. Last year was my first year and things went pretty well. Have you heard from them yet?? I remember getting an acceptance letter early May. I need to start doing mailings again too. Do you feel that they help you??
I have to get back to work. I am also getting ready for the shows. I’m doing a new show – Barrington Fine Art Festival May 29th and 30th. Hopefully, it will be good.
Take care, Anita Elaine Peters
ANITA – NO, I have not heard from the folks at Art In The Barn yet. So I had to “assume” that I’ll be accepted again this year for my postcards. And YES, I do feel that the postcards are helpful. I hear from many customers who thank me for sending them, tell me that they keep it on the fridge all summer long and think it’s a great reminder. I also do a full-blown e-mail announcement to my customers about a week before each show. I don’t know who gets what, some may get both, but is that so bad?! I’ve recently just started up a Facebook Fan Page to see if that helps. It’s free, takes up little time, and can’t ever hurt to keep your message and your presence out there in front of more people!!!
Good luck with your art fair next weekend… I’ll be kicking off my art fair season that weekend as well. I will be at the Schaumburg Prairie Fine Arts Festival. And hoping for good weather!!! GARY
Gary, I’m sure you will be doing Art in the Barn again. Your pottery is so beautiful and your price points are great. I will be doing my mailing again. I used to be really good about doing them – then I decided to cut back. I think that’s a mistake. I need to get busy and not be so lazy. I really need to promote myself again. I think Facebook Fan Page sounds like a good idea.
In the winter, I will be taking a few classes at Lillstreet Art Center. I was also looking into the Highland Park Art Center. I’m favoring Lillstreet. I grew up not too far from there. I love the city and it’s energy.
I got to run. I’m sure we will be hearing from Art in the Barn soon. Good luck at your show and let’s hope for good weather.
