I’m getting ready for the art fair season… and the “invitations” are going in the mail tomorrow!
But tonight I need to apply address labels & stamp them all so they’re “postal-ready”!!!
I hope someone shows up to the party…

Clear & bright on the breakwater at North Avenue Beach this morning!

With only a three-and-a-half hours left of “LOST”… one of those hours tonight!!!…
and a lot of answers yet to be explained, here’s a topic to discuss before it ends.
Who’s your favorite character and why?! Least favorite?!

Dramatic clouds off to the east over the lake this morning.
What a difference a few minutes can make in the colors of the morning sunrise?!

Tonight I’ve been working on “stitching together” some more of my “ClayQuilts.”
Small, soda-fired, textured tiles that are put together as a work of art for your wall.
And what appears to be random, is anything but. I find it interesting every time,
how much effort goes into making it look random while it is all very controlled.
Can’t have too many similar tiles in one area, need to keep colors dispersed evenly,
and I sometimes try to create “thematic” color combinations as I go!

Tomorrow, I’ll look at them again with fresh eyes, make a few alterations,
and start gluing them in place. Again, “forced random” as I like to put it.

Remember… before the soda firing, they were just a lot of textured clay squares
with a bunch of different colored & flashing slips on them for different effects.

While folding laundry, I just looked out my living room window
and found two baby mourning doves sitting outside on the window ledge.
I hope that their fledgling flying skills are good enough to get them off the ledge safely?!

Okay, so by now you know that I’m addicted to “LOST”…
but my other “Island Addiction” is the reality show “SURVIVOR.” I have been a HUGE fan
since the very beginning – when they kicked them off the boat and made them swim to shore.
And last night was the finale of the twentieth season – celebrated with an all-star reunion
of Heroes vs. Villains. It was another great season, with great characters, great twists
and great people doing stupid things!!!

Congratulations to the Top Three, left to right below.. Sandra, Parvati and Russell.
Although I won nothing in my own “Survivor Pool”… it’s still a lot more fun watching
Reality TV when they’re money riding on it!

In third place, the self-proclaimed biggest “Survivor” Villain of all time… Russell.
He is the most conniving & manipulative player ever; who always thinks he’s in charge –
all the way up to the final Tribal Council. But how ironic, that the guy who thinks
he’s the best player ever – got ZERO votes in the end!

And then there’s Parvati… my favorite! She’s the one who has been “on the Island”
the most, with well over 100 episodes and three seasons of “Survivor.” She was my
“gut choice” to win, but of course I overthought the game. Thinking that they would never
let a strong, competitive, previous winner get to the finish line again. But here she is –
still strong and coming in second!

And the winner… Sandra, who flew under the radar a bit, frequently scheming but never
too aggressive. She’s never won a challenge, but now has won the game of “Survivor” twice!
I’m not too excited about her win… I do like her wit & sarcasm… but I’m just more excited
that Russell didn’t win! He’s an idiot…

Next season, the “Survivor” castaways will be going off to Nicaragua!

Today was another great 70-mile day of biking. It was a the “Arlington 500” which started
out at Barrington High School. It started out a little cloudy & chilly, but quickly warmed up…
and the layers were quick to be peeled off. I rode with my friend Chris for the looping route
which took us through the western suburbs & marshy forest preserves. Not only did we have
a great ride, but we met a few friends along the way…

And, it was so nice out, that I got my first “bike-short-tan-line” of the season!!!

Two weeks from today is the Schaumburg Prairie Fine Arts Festival.
It’s the official kick-0ff to my Summer Art Fair schedule…
and the beginning of “white tent season.” Gotta dust mine off…
