Lots of holes means lots of drainage for these colorful BERRY BOWLS!!! These will also be part of my pop-up pottery sale online on my Fire When Ready Pottery Facebook page starting tomorrow night at 7:00pm CST… Sunday 6/7/20.
Limited quantities… available ONLY on my Facebook page… grab ’em quick!!!
Oh yeah, and then this happened too… a “friendly” reminder through the Public Safety Alert System sent to everyone’s phones to let us know that we’re apparently STILL under the Chicago Curfew!!! This is getting old… call me selfish… but I miss my sunrise bike rides!
Just a few “teaser shots” of the mugs that will be up for sale in my POP-UP POTTERY SALE only on my Fire When Ready Pottery Facebook page tomorrow night. You can only claim them online when I post the official Facebook Photo Album at 7:00pm CST on Sunday 6/7/20. Set a reminder for yourself, do a little window shopping now so you can swoop-in and grab your favorite tomorrow night on my Facebook page!
On my way home from Openlands, I was pedaling through Evanston and saw this amazing house… okay, so maybe it’s more the decorative work on the facade than the house itself?! I was completely enamored by the craftsmanship & design… and the fact that they have kept it in tact and in great shape over the years! BEAUTIFUL!!!
Another beautiful day with not a cloud in the sky. Perfect for another bike ride north to Openlands Lakeshore Preserve. My new favorite spot since the quarantine & Chicago lakefront closure has “forced me” to explore further north. It’s a beautiful location with plenty of shoreline, beaches, bluff, grasses & trees! Nothing like having the whole beach pretty much to myself! Waves splashing all around… and me trying to capture the splash without getting too wet!!! It would have been a long & chilly ride home if I got soaked!
Just a few more pieces of beach glass for the “quarantine collection.” I’ve never really collected it before, but since we’ve all had to find new diversions over the past two months… I found some new routes, some new bike trails… and some glass.
As this weekend was “supposed to be” the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival… which was “pandemic-postponed” until the middle of August with fingers crossed… I’ve decided to host a little pop-up sale on my Fire When Ready Pottery Facebook page with some of the bright & colorful new pieces I’ve been working on. Pottery which would have been on display this weekend in Hinsdale… but instead, we’re going to go online! Check my Facebook page tomorrow evening at 7:00pm CST for the kick-off – Sunday 6/7/20!
And sure, looks like we have PERFECT WEATHER this weekend… when does that ever happen for an outdoor art fair?! Really?! I can’t wait until we can really get together for a “real” art fair again… I miss seeing everyone!!!
You know I already love a good mural.
Even better when it’s for a good cause.
Making a good statement.
According to ThisIsColossal.com…
“In a show of solidarity, a massive tribute to Black Lives Matter has been painted on the street leading to the White House in Washington, D.C. Completed in permanent street paint, the message features bold, yellow letters that span more than a block of 16th Street and marks a historic moment in the United States after weeks of protests.
Mayor Muriel Bowser commissioned the banner-style piece, which city workers and volunteers began at 3 a.m. Friday morning ahead of weekend demonstrations. The new message is just two blocks north of Lafayette Square, where police charged peaceful protestors and released tear gas and flash-bang shells to clear the crowd for a photo-op for President Trump earlier this week. It sits at the foot of St. John’s Church.”
So they’re finally assembled… lidded jars with birds on them!
Wheelthrown & stamped lidded jars with handbuilt birds on branches as handles! I’ll let them sit out to dry slowly so I can put them into a bisque kiln early next week.
And then I need to figure out how I’m going to finish them… soda-fired, glazed, details, oxides, underglazes… so many options!!! And yes, there’s already a plan brewing…
