The “other side” of living Chicago. Clear sky sunrises… and the “cluttered” urban sunset!!!
It was an uncharacteristically warm day today for January. So it was a perfect day for an afternoon bike ride… or perhaps even a Protest March downtown! The lake is now mostly melted… except for a few sections in the shadow of the skyline buildings.
Slushy lake. Cool breezes. And a beautiful afternoon for a few urban sunset shots.
It’s almost a wrap. Here’s the final sunset of 2016. A beautiful ending.
Sure, maybe I should have been Christmas shopping? Or wrapping presents? Or one of a million other things on my to-do list?! But it was surprisingly warm (comparatively) this afternoon so I just had to head out on my bike! Christmas stuff can wait till tomorrow, right? Why rush.
And while the sunset was brightening the western sky, it was fun to see the festive Christmas colors on top of the John Hancock Building downtown!
Okay, so by now you may have noticed that I’m more of a SUNRISE guy.
Living in Chicago, we have a much better sunrise view over Lake Michigan.
Sunsets are frequently “hidden” by buildings, street lights and a lot of visual garbage.
So I was excited to see my cousin David getting into the act and sharing his SUNSET
while vacationing in Hawaii.
Thanks for playing. Thanks for sharing. Now I want to be on a beach too!!!
A beautiful sunset this evening that perfectly silhouetted the new sculpture two blocks north of my studio… on the northeast corner of Ravenswood & Wilson.
An amazing sunset over rural Indiana.
Another beautiful end to another beautiful day.
