Here are some of the beauties that were in Monday night’s cone six glaze kiln.
Just replenishing the shelves a bit for Saturday’s Second Holiday Home Show!
Plenty of plates & platters just in time for the holidays for sharing with your family & friends!

Okay, so this also shows that I might “need to” expand my cone six color palette.
Anyone have a good cone 6 glaze recipe to share?
Hopefully a nicely saturated color glaze that pools & breaks in all the right places!!! Thanks.

Oh yeah, and the one with the big crack from my bad trimming…
and the one that I accidentally dropped a kiln post on top of.
Yep, it was stuck to the bottom of a shelf as I lifted it out… and it popped off… CRACK!!!

The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time for another online sale!
A quick chance to grab up one of sixteen mugs!!!
The perfect gift for anyone on your holiday shopping list… even if that someone is YOU!!!

So the plan is much like the last online sale…
I’m posting photos of all sixteen mugs here on my blog. Both sides of each mug for comparison. Some are the same on both sides, while others have some dramatic flashing effects from the soda-kiln firing!

Then this Wednesday, December 6th at 7:00am CST, I will post the “official” Photo Album on my Facebook pottery page. Once posted on Facebook, it’s gonna be a first come, first served race to the end. The first person to post a “MINE” Comment on a photo in the Facebook Photo Album with “claim” their prize. The online sale will continue until midnight Friday, December 15th.

Feel free to post comments here on the mugs, but keep in mind that ONLY the first person to Comment on Facebook will get the mug! Use this blog posting as your “window shopping” opportunity before the store opens!

Each mug is priced at $50 which includes shipping & handling (within the contiguous US please.) And remember, that all mugs are handmade and one-of-a-kind. As well as food-safe, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe… just not gravity-safe!

Here’s a quick peek at the mugs that will be going up for sale this Wednesday, December 6th to celebrate St. Nick’s Day. I will post better photos here on my blog tomorrow so you can see both sides of each mug. But then early Wednesday morning I will open up the sale on my Fire When Ready Pottery Facebook page. It will be first-come, first-claimed. Feel free to comment on these photos, but don’t even try to claim them ahead of time. Have fun looking, choose your favorites, and then shop on Facebook early Wednesday morning to snatch-up your mug.

So remember, there’s no pre-sale calling of dibs. No “claiming” of the mugs ahead of time here on the website. Only the Facebook Comments to claim them starting Wednesday morning after I place the official sale kick-off on Facebook,

More details to come… but in the meantime, click here for my Facebook page and hit FOLLOW… so you’re all ready to go on Wednesday!!!

A quick peek into the pottery cupboard as dinnerware pieces are changing from summer colors to seasonal earthtones. So fun to see my pottery in people’s homes… in this case, my first ever “art fair friends” who have quite the collection both old & new! Thanks for sharing Gerry & Rosene. See you soon!

It was a very productive day in the studio with a great afternoon bike break… let’s be real!!!
But, while I was working, I also got caught up and watched all of Season Two
of “The Great Pottery Throw Down” on YouTube. Great show…
although I still don’t understand what brings the judges to tears so often?!

And just to be clear… fountain maybe, chandelier possibly, toilet never!!!

Tonight was the final class for my “Simply Soda” students. Ten weeks of classes and soda-firing fun with mixed results. They’ve enjoyed the challenge and learned a lot about the variables of soda-firing. To finish off our final class, we had a fun potluck feast along with our “Plant & Planter Trading-Exchange Game.” So each student brought in some food… and the planter they made during class with a plant they chose to coordinate with their flower pot.

So here are the plant participants in our fun little trading-exchanging-stealing game!

A beautiful orchid & flower pot by Stacey…

A charming small duo of an African violet & succulent twosome by Taylore…

A ponytail palm and ridged planter by Katie…

Some “unknown plant” in a beautiful flower pot by Jackie…

A round disc succulent and soda-fired flower pot by Ed…

A recently pruned, and soon to bloom? plant in a flower pot by Cecelia…

A sleek wall vase with a miniature mum plant inside by Emily…

A small orchid in a water-erosion-relief pattern flower pot by Patty…

And my stamped & soda-fired planter with beautiful variegated low-light plant…

And then Ryan, Taylore’s better-half, didn’t want to be left out of the fun. So even though he’s not really part of this class (he’s actually in my Tuesday night class), he decided to bring his own “plants” to trade in the game. So he worked up a batch of “dirt” for the potluck! Yummy gummy worms in chocolate pudding and chocolate cookie crumbled “dirt.”
