One last thing before I left St. Louis today… I had to get me some Gooey Butter Cake! I’ve heard it’s a St. Louis classic… and I’ve never had it before… except as a “flavor” of Jeni’s Ice Cream!!! I also didn’t know it wasn’t actually cake… nor that it came in different flavors! So I “may” have gotten four flavors to try at home… and a “maybe” a brownie for the drive too?! Burp…

Better?… or was Melissa the only one who noticed that my earlier post somehow “demoted” Patrick away from being a Saint?! Too funny… I totally didn’t notice that one! My bad.

This morning I subbed for an intermediate wheelthrowing class. We talked & laughed… and then I did a couple demos. We started with throwing a large platter. And then, with a little “Julia Child kitchen switch-out magic” I switched to a platter that I had thrown a couple days ago and did a fun stamping demo for them. I think I may have won them over?…

In my Monday night Intermediate Wheelthrowing class this week, one of my students was stamping wonderful patterns on her thrown platter. Wonder where she got THAT idea?!

It looks AMAZING Christine!!!
I guess my work here is done…

Celebrating another TEXTURE TUESDAY… before I head off to class to teach my Beginners how to throw plates & platters on the wheel. They might not get quite this far tonight… but there’s always next session to show them even more!!!

Finally getting around to finishing up a little commission… of little side plates. Half with a spiral, half without a spiral… but all with stamped perimeters!!! Drying now… need to be bisque fired still… looking forward to glazing them soon!

Sure, they’ve now thrown bowls, they’ve matched each other’s bowls… but can they both work together at the same time?! For the next Pottery Olympic event, they were challenged to make a “partner platter” where one person threw, and the other person drove the speed pedal! Fun to take away the control, and give it to someone else responsible for speed & stopping.

Looking at the latest batch of fresh postcards from THE POSTCARD CLUB. Featuring Seattle-based photographer Connor Surdi. Always fun to figure out who’s going to get a little fun from me in the mail next?!
