The sun finally came out for a brief moment this afternoon… and backlit this orchid just perfect to make the new blooms really shine!
A few more happy succulents enjoying the bright sunlight on my dining room windowsill… and their stamped & soda-fired flowerpots!
Enjoying some some blue skies & bright sunshine streaming through one of my shamrock plants… from the warmth & comfort INSIDE my condo!!! Just one more “distraction” to delay my trip into the studio today!
It’s been a long time coming, but this cute little succulent has finally started blooming. It has been working on sending up these flower stalks for months, and now it seems like it’s enjoying the bright sun with these tender little blossoms! Not so sure what kind it is… but it’s loving its new home… and the cute little flower stake by my friend Cory McCrory!
Dull dreary & cold Winter days are so much easier to cope with when you go down into my friend Rosene’s basement to find her coleus garden growing in full force! What better way to feed her own gardening addiction than to take cuttings at the end of Summer… and then root them & nurse them through the Winter! So many wonderful colors & textures on these gorgeous coleus plants! Perfect for a natural TEXTURE TUESDAY!!!
Too bad this little slice o Heaven is way down by Peoria!!!
While we’re focused on flower pots for Day Seven of my “TWELVE DAYS” pottery sales… I thought I’d share this little bit of craziness going on at my place!
I re-planted this little succulent back in May and it seems to be loving its new home. So much so that it’s sending up these wonderful stalks with tiny little flowers on top!
Again, apparently my plants are thriving during the pandemic shut-down – with no special care, just a south-facing window and plenty of neglect!!!
So apparently I’m NOT the only one whose cactus is starting to bloom… like this one down in Peoria! They’re looking pretty happy in their handmade pottery flower pots, just sayin’! Thanks for the photos Gerry & Rosene!
Anyways, thanks to a Facebook Fan who clarified the difference, this is in fact a Thanksgiving Cactus. Different from a Christmas Cactus… or even more different from an Easter Cactus. Who knew there were three?… not me! But thanks to Kim for clarifying the cactus confusion for me.

And when one is down by the Museum of Science & Industry, you should always take a few minutes to explore the hidden treasure of the Japanese Garden just south of the museum. A beautiful & serene space… still preserved from the Columbian Exposition Worlds Fair! Complete with some STUNNING Japanese maple trees in full Fall colors!!!
So I posted earlier this summer about this perfect little “volunteer” petunia who decided to grow through the cracks in the cement by my back gate. And now he has a friend!!! We have quite a little flower garden going on back here!!!
These shamrocks have been enjoying the summer on my back porch. But they say the temperatures are going to drop quickly overnight… so their stay outside might end soon! I’m thinking I need to find a new home for them inside today before they “freeze” to death tomorrow!
