Mark your calendar! This weekend is a fun kick-off of Fall at ART IN THE BARN!
It’s my last outdoor art fair of the season & all decorated for Fall!
Even if there’s a few sprinkles of rain in the forecast, my booth is open-air
yet protected inside the vintage barn!

And it’s a big one where I have a double booth full of twice as much pottery!!!
Including Fall “specialties” like pumpkins & my annual Halloween “Ghoul” collectibles.
Hope you can make it… I’d love to see you there!

The rush is on… trying to get everything ready for this weekend’s art fair in Barrington. ART IN THE BARN is my biggest outdoor show… well, kinda… it’s open-air, but I’m “protected” in the Lower Barn just in case it rains?! Still dry for shopping!!! And I have a double booth again this year… same place as always! A double booth means double the shelves, double the pottery & double the fun!!! So mark your calendar!!!

And yes, there will definitely be a new addition to The Ghouls Collection… still doing my darnedest to get them into a kiln!!! Look forward to a new “slightly warm” Ghoul this Saturday morning!!!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend. We had perfect weather & great surroundings. I mean, could the background for my booth have been any greener?! So much fun hanging out & chatting with so many fun people! Thanks for coming!!

Also a big thanks to Amy & Tom for hosting the event every year…
as well as our merry band of talented artists who never cease to amaze me!
So great to play with you all this weekend!

Late afternoon art fair vibes… loving the “garden” shadows on my tent.
We still have another hour… c’mon by, c’mon buy!!

Plus, it looks like I may have had an overnight critter visiting my booth… ever-so-gently “admiring” some of my hybrid mugs. Luckily they were on the top shelf… so no harm, no foul.

You may have heard a “rumor” here on my social media… that this weekend is ART IN THE GARDEN in Glenview. I’m all set-up & re-stocked for Day Two… including the pumpkin patch that was “fully harvested” yesterday!!! So… MORE pumpkins today!!!

Looks like Cory McCrory is in the final stages here… with some clear glaze in all the right places! Yes, that mint green color is actually a low-fire CLEAR glaze! So it will make all of Cory’s underglaze colors a lot more vibrant. And it will make the terra cotta areas darker & shinier than the “raw” terra cotta areas. Can’t believe ART IN THE GARDEN is this weekend already… but it is good to know that these are already in the final kiln firing. So I think Cory has timed it perfect… although they might just be “a little warm” when they come out of the kiln just in time for this weekend’s art fair!

After the underglaze is wiped away, everything shows up so much better. All of the grooves, stamps, textures & Cory’s whimsical additions! These are looking so fun… can’t wait to show-off these collaboration pieces at ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend!!! – “Cory, you’re killin’ it!!!”

To help highlight my stamped textures & her handbuilt details, Cory does a wash of dark underglaze. It fills all of the stamps & seams… and then gets gently wiped off leaving the underglaze only in the recesses. And it really helps make the colors POP!!!

While all of our collaboration pieces are safely in the final glaze kiln firing…. I’m just sharing a few more production photos from Cory McCrory’s studio! More underglaze painting to make all of the parts & pieces even more fun!!! Just hoping these all look great when they come out of the kiln for ART IN THE GARDEN this weekend!
