Gary Jackson: Fire When Ready Pottery
A Chicago potter’s somewhat slanted view of clay & play

A bit warmer today, but also a LOT windier.
Crazy gusty winds along the lakefront… especially blowing between the building!!!
Plenty of clouds blowing through and changing very quickly this morning.
Plus some really great frozen walls near Montrose Harbor.

I was just getting ready to pedal home… thinking that there were too many clouds to have a good sunrise. But then… there was a parting in the clouds, and some of them started to change colors.

And then… out of nowhere, the clouds scattered and became little puff balls. Tons of them!!! All over the place. The blue sky was gorgeous with the contrasting white clouds.

Blue skies, puffy white clouds… and some wonderful tree silhouettes.

But then, as the sun continued to rise and go behind the clouds, the sky took on a more ominous tone. And made the lamp post appear as though it were still shining!!!

So I tried to pedal home… but the sky just kept getting better and better.
More clouds. More sunrise effects. More morning silhouettes.

More blue skies and glorious sunrise moment.

So glad I stuck it out in the blustery wind for a beautiful moment like this!

You know I love a good Jamba Juice now & again…
and have a comedy crush on ELLEN… who doesn’t?
Adele’s carpool karaoke kinda won me over… but this latest video pretty much seals the deal bringing all three of them together. I love Adele when she shows off her funny side!

Click here to watch Adele at Jamba Juice… as the mouthpiece for ELLEN.
Adele was wearing an earpiece and had to follow all of Ellen’s directions
and repeat everything Ellen told her. And of course… hilarity ensued.

I love when a plan comes together. I’ve been working on a little “project” for awhile now… and soon enough there’s going to be a “Big Reveal.” I got a a nice envelope in the mail today with a little sneak peek.

Tonight I did a lot of stamping on some plates & platters. Some got a lot, some got a few. Some will be glazed, and some will be soda-fired. But all of them now have decorative edges from multiple stamps… each pressed in one by one by one… round & round & round…

A little chilly… a little windy… but well worth the shivers!
I really loved the texture of the lake with frozen shards of ice scattered everywhere. And the way the sunrise colors sparkled on those spikes of ice.

Sure, the sunrise is pretty… but look at those sharp shards of ice!!!

One of my favorite pieces of rusty metal. This beautifully carved shovel creates such great shadows on my dining room wall. Beautiful artwork by New Orleans artist Denice Bizot.

It’s “Wrought Iron Wednesday” … and you know how I love a good piece of rusty metal.

Just when you thought that stamping, carving, sgraffito and other surface decoration techniques were a bit too fussy and a bit too much work… imagine this?!!!!

Precisely incised porcelain. Also, difficult to say three times fast!!!
